a wise man once said..... concern yourself with your character rather than your reputation your character is who you are, your reputation is what others think of you Do you have a reputation? Do you care? ![]() |

We all have a reputation. If you are on the planet and interacting with others, they will form an opinion of you. If you behave consistently, others will have the same or similar opinion of you. Or if the opinion of you is shared with others (gossip) it can further solidify an idea of you whether it is based in truth or not (good and bad). Thus you become known as one who is reliable, or who can't say no, or the bad boy, or any host of other things.
It is based upon the 'what' of people ... and more removed still on the 'what other people think as viewed through their own filters and judgments'. And it isn't necessarily based in any fact. Character is the who of us. It is who we choose to be. It speaks to 'what we would do when no one is looking'. Reputation would care who was looking. I am interested in character. What others 'think' of me is really none of my business anyway. It belongs to them. My only real control is what I think of me. |

Do you care? I'd say I have a fairly good reputation. But it doesn't stop me from hurting and hurting back those who hurt me. And I think it gives me a not so good character. But then I don't care... it's me. |

In most circles Character is used to define personalities and Reputation is used to define actions. When I say "She is sweet, kind and loving"... I am defining her Character. When I say "She has a tendency to not be faithful to her lovers" or "She can never show up on time"...I am defining her Reputation.
I'm hoping both mine are ok. But you never know sometimes what other people are saying or thinking about you. I try to live my life the way I would hope to have people treat me. That doesn't work out that way alot of times either. People are who they are from their upbringing, society and personal experiences. |

Don't have one don't need one and don't care to have one...........Honestly I could give a rats azz what others think about me as long as I'm not hurting anyone with my actions, then I'm the only one that has to pay in the end if I do anything wrong..........

I know in my road where i live, i'm known as "that emo girl". Honestly, if i had to be someone different just to make friends, well i'd stay as i am. I like the music i like. I like me as i am. I feel good wearing dark colours. Big deal. Yeah it may not be the norm, but normal is boring, to be fair xD. Just cos others where i live are bitter nasty chavs, doesn't mean i have to be. You know when you're happy with yourself, cos you don't even question it :)

In my business I meet a lot of entertainers. I don't get to know most of them cause I'm there or their here to do a job. From what I can see entertainers are no different from anyone else except they are hounded by the press that is trying to dig up all of their private moments because that's their job. If you took the fame away from these entertainers you would find most of them to be more reserved than your average party crazy.
America has a reputation and gossip illness that you don't find in many other countries. I'm not saying it's not there it's just different here. We blow things way up. And we make up stories for whatever reasons and use them to judge people. That's very sad in my book. We live in a world of talking about others when we should be looking how to improve ourselves and encourage others. |

Most of the judgers/haters could better utilize their energy improving their own lives. I am what I am, a great person with strong family/friendship ties. I have people that love me just how I am so won't waste any time crying if someone doesn't! |

I dont knw MG, Charlie Sheen did his own RANTING, TOM CRuise, MEL Gisbon. . . these are them acting like belligerent fools....it's not like a rumored article you READ in the Enquirer, I mean its live audio and video footage of them....acting in way that sets their reputation in which they repeatedly live up to...there is a difference between a rumored reputation and a self depicted one... |

Do you have a reputation? Sure, "intimidating and complicated." Do you care? No. People see what they want to see. |
