teacher.
I'm not patient. I shall now be some weird artist. or landscape architect. whichever way, I'll be good. |

I have never really had a goal in life. I have never felt childish, nor grown up.
I once said to my mother, I just want as little as possible. I have been given my wish. But now just a good meal, plenty of sleep. Lot's of peace and quiet. That is all I need now, everyday :) |

I learned that the years I spent homeschooling my sons. You strike me as the artistic/creative kind. I'm sure be you'll be great at that. |

But now just a good meal, plenty of sleep. Lot's of peace and quiet. That is all I need now, everyday :) Sounds like a good life. I never had a specific career I dreamed about either. Except for a brief while when I wanted to be a ballerina. Having little makes for a very simple and quiet life. |

But now just a good meal, plenty of sleep. Lot's of peace and quiet. That is all I need now, everyday :) I can't believe this, Mr. Busquite. I am a carbon copy of what you wrote about yourself here. Excepting what you said to your mom. I don't think I ever said anything to Mom. She talked, I looked, and I asked questions or made stupid jokes. Yes, I talked to her, but nothing about deep stuff. I wrote those to her, in my school essays. Well, one, in grade four. That said. I first wanted to become an astronaut, before grade one, coz Gagarin was the superhero of the time. Then I wanted to become a teacher, then a writer, then a mathematician, then a computer programmer, then a tall man, then back to a writer, then a giggolo, then a debonaire bon vivante, then a rich man, then a man who needs no physical baggage, then a smart and wise man, then a man who knows people, then a man who is famous for his philosophical thougths, then a man who could lose those eighty extra lbs. Interspersed with the above I wanted to be a truck driver, a taxicab driver, a cartographic scribe, a world famous accountant. About half of the above came true. I never wanted to be an inventor, which I did become; never wanted to be going on for over a decade in complete celibacy; I never wnated to have diabetes and glaucoma; I never wanted to be so much bothered by the control or perceived control by others. These all came true. |

What did you want to be when you grew up? And, why did you or didn't you do that? A veternarian, a healer. I have worked with animals, young people, and adults in healing modalities, vet nursing, youth worker, and psychologist...I don't think I really get a choice...the compulsion to be available for people who are seeking support is inherant. I threw the shingle behind the door, dropped the conservative wear on the floor, kicked off my shoes, went to work in landscape gardening, and now with fresh produce...and I have more clients than ever... ...which is about to double, as Stephen is a men's therapist, intuitive psychologist, healer....there'll be two shingles behind the door! Now, when I grow up....I wanna be All of me. |

I wanted to be a dentist, but I found drugs and alcohol instead, and once I finally sobered up, it wasnt a priority anymore. Ive been a union steelworker for almost 24yrs now and Im ok with that great success story, guy! I never really wanted to anything but a homemaker and I did do that for quite along time. I trained as a special educator and have done a little teaching but not much and mostly with very young kids & have coached some sports then for awhile I wanted to be a biologist or a ranger but never did that - tho I did teach some outdoor education and did a few Christmas Bird Counts but never had strong professional goals until recently |

At one point I wanted to learn juggling (as in circus act). Very, extremely close to that time, I also wanted to be a trapese artist.
In my first year of sexual maturity, I wanted to be an invisible man, but my dad was a lawyer and I read in his books that making love to a woman while impressing her that the lover is a man who is in the usual and customary social position to make love to her, or has her drunk or drugged to make her lose her judgment or ability to resist, or to give her promises for sexual favours that would never be delivered, all constitute as rape. I figured from this that sneaking into a woman's bedroom while invisible, and to have sex with her would amount to nothing less than rape, so I gave up my invisibility fantasy. In grade one I was discovered as a musically talented boy, but I never learned the theory and after my voice change, could never any more carry a tune again. In grade one I wanted to become a trombonist, but very misteriously I switched, involuntarily, to hate all brass blowing instruments. |

I wanted to be a vet or a teacher. I started out in college as a bio major and that lasted about a semester before I switched. I still think about being a teacher, though. Who knows..

What did you want to be when you grew up? And, why did you or didn't you do that? I'll say vet because whenever I told people I wanted to figure out how to keep animals from getting sick and dying...they said, OH she wants to be a vet! I found drugs, alcohol & bad boys while working countless dead-end boring azz jobs and was never happy! I started college without a clue of where I was going @ 25. I went pre-vet track my second year and was given a scholarship which I received yearly for the remainder of my time getting my bachelors degree. Life happened, my grades suffered from it so vet school became a lost hope A couple of mentors in the chemistry department took an interest in me and encouraged me to look at graduate programs where I could get paid to work on a higher degree and move away from all the heartache & drama! I fought for an interview with the head of a canine genetics lab! He was an absolute arse of a man, but he gave me some great, honest advice & helped me get into the genetics program here at A&M! Now I am studying the immune system of animals in response to infections/parasitism! Exactly what I wanted to do all along and just never realized I was chasing my dream until I was neck deep doing it |

I wanted to be a Physical Therapist or a Telephone line repairman. Later I dropped out of college and worked in offices forever. Now I just want things to be simple.

What did you want to be when you grew up? And, why did you or didn't you do that? I wanted to be a cop. I did it and hated it. Really? I did it for 13 years and enjoyed much of it. I learned A LOT. I'm glad I'm not still doing it, but I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. I never dreamed of becoming a cop. I found my way to law enforcement through the career center at college. I was in taking one of those "what should I be" tests because I really had no idea what I wanted to do. (I was an English major). The 3 choices it came up with were: 1. Social Worker. I decided social workers don't make enough money to live on so I ruled that out. 2. Nurse. Yuck. Too many bodily fluids. 3. Police Officer. Okay, that sounds good. If only I had known how little cops make and how much bodily fluid I would come in contact with. |

I wanted to be an analytical chemist. Every career test I took said I should be an engineer, so thats what I went for. After my first year in college as an industrial engineering major and being an outcast in the world of true nerds, I switched to business lol. Maybe one day, if I decide to devote my life to school, I'll go back to engineering.

Maybe one day, if I decide to devote my life to school, I'll go back to engineering. my oldest son found himself in a similar situation where life circumstances did not permit him the time to be a FT engineering student - kinda sad cuz he won the Freshman Engineering award at his university. anyway, when he switched to the School of Business from the College of Engineering he chose Management of Information Systems as his business program and currently works as a Certified Microsoft Professional & he's every bit as much an engineer as his brother who graduated in engineering he landed his first job tho cuz he had 2 yrs of computer engineering prior to business school - so it came in handy - and he's the best of the best |
