Clown
I was minding my own business when I fell into the pile I was wearing someone else's shoes but I had walked the mile. I looked around to get a feel for what was going down imagine my surprise to find the teardrops of a clown. I touched them..they were real sad and lonely tears of pain flowing steady and unheeded down an everlasting drain. I put my finger to my lips and tasted salty grief I wondered how he could go on when he had lost belief. A clown must laugh when others cry that's how the circus works he smiles and wiles his heart away who wonders if it hurts? I smile more, I cry much less when the circus comes to town you can see your own reflection in the teardrops of a clown. soufie 5/22/2011 |

To Soufie
The mascara of the clown Was washed away with tears But not completely, just enough, To make her look her fears. The fear of hers, like all of ours, Is hidden, deep inside, And the deeper, more protected, The more it is in sight. So she comes to this site, and clowns around, This baby child of god, She talks, and walks, and turns and stalks And one day she'll fall. There is going to be a guy Who opens her up like a can Of sardines, and she spills her beens, Emotions and love, and he'll take it all. He won't stagger even for a moment. It takes a strong someone To hold another strong When the other becomes weak And forgets who she is, And lives for a split moment, Which'll seem like a century. |

I'm not fond of rhyming poems, but I really liked this. You didn't just choose words that would sound alike, but they actually convey a deeper meaning.
You just started a thread. I'm sure you'll never forget your first time. :) |
