"Mingle" or just online friendships general...
Subject Question: How has it affected you in ways you never would have dreamed of? Anyone who has been "here" for a while realizes that friendships are VERY real. Being online has ABSOLUTELY, and quite LITERALLY...CHANGED LIVES! I wanna hear other stories!! |

I joined a "different" social network (a pre-cursor to Mingle... a lot of us here)in Mid-September '06.
I spent Thanksgiving week '06 in Amsterdam and Berlin as a DIRECT effect. That's insane to me! |

Ok, Mingle has completely changed my life.
Firstly I came on here as I was tired of men. Yep dumb but true.. I was sick of peole thinking that because i said hi that I wanted to jump into bed with them. I wanted to get to know people not rush into any sort of emotional thing, I wanted to make friends and see what they where like before I let myself get mixed up with anyone. Anyway, basically I am a very shy, probably a little nieve to what happens in a lot of the world, I never went anywhere as I loved my home and only mixed with the people at my work and my family. Well i waas on here for 3 days before I met the man a man I liked, It took me 3 days before i knew for sure I wanted to marry him. It took me a week to decide that I didnt want to waste my time talking to someone I thought I loved but could be wrong so decided I had to meet him. It was 5 weeks from when I first talked to him before i flew to America. I came home 5 weeks later engaged and now I am getting married sometime soon. But besides that info.. I have made some fantastic friends My eyes have been opened to what happens in other parts of the world.. I have found that on here I dont need to be shy, My whole world has expanded. I can talk about things that there is no way I would have told anyone. And really people on here know more about me and my life than my family do.. Mingle is where i go just to chat, to see what is happening, and I do feel like I know people on here. I Love Mingle. not as a dating site, but as a place to come sit down with a cuppa and see what everyone is up to. I love reading all the posts, and laughing at some of the things that happen. Everyone here is special to me.. |

Everyone here is special to me.. Josie.. I know everyone on here that talks to you thinks you are an absolute doll. You may be a bit naive but your are as sweet as anyone I've ever met. and I'm glad I can call you friend. Now me, I had a four month relationship with a fellow mingler. He turned out to be a bit different in person, and we had a few persoanlity clashes. So that ended (he is now deactivated). I have made many friends on here. A few I now call my friends on facebook, and share my life events with them. I cherish all the friends and acquiantances I've made on here. I also have become more educated on spotting scammers after carrying on with one for approx. 3 months. I now know the websites to check to see if he's done it before. And to run their emails on google to double check them. So it has caused me to be more cautious with any personal information until I know enough to trust them. I Love this place for all the ups and downs. |

Here I can ask questions and speak my feelings I can't normally do around my circle of family and friends. I am able to give my opinions on things and see if others think like I do. Here I can try to help someone by giving my personal insight on some of the things I've dealt with myself.

Well, i met Dan99 on another social networking site 5yrs ago, i wasnt looking for love, but we developed a friendship online, and after a year of friendship, we decided to meet along with another online friend. Our friendship love then changed to romantic love and we entered into a LDR, which lasted 2 n half years. I moved in with Dan in september 2009. On Christmas day 2010, Dan asked me to marry him and i said yes, and lately, we just found out we are having a baby.
Now, we have 2 important dates, our baby is due in late december, and we are due to be married in June 2012. This all started with an online friendship, and i would advise anybody online who is looking for love, to change wat they are looking for to friendships. Thats where romance can develop innocently, imo. |

This Little Experiment If you had told me, when I joined this 'dating' site (just to help a friend matriculate through it) that I would fall for a fellow Mingler, I would have thought you insane. But when we meet in June, it will be almost a year to the day we first 'engaged' on here, and began the journey. We kept it quiet to give us time to find our way, but then comes the day when you can no longer hide the happiness of it all. So yes, Mingle can be life-changing. In big ways. I have made friends on here, that I have met (on the outside, hahaha) and adore. For always. I do not think of Mingle as a dating site, I like the 'social networking' handle. Because that is what the internet hands you, the opportunity to meet people from a wide spectrum of life and bring them into yours. What a tool! Although. I do think, one day, the owners of this site are going to have to offer us the services of Dr. Drew, as the addiction can get out of hand :-) |

I've had wonderful romances (although not quite as successful) and made incredible friendships. It's nice to make friends! |
