I don't know if it's true but I've been told that by "unsubscribing" you are inadvertently confirming that it is a valid email address.
That is a funny url though |

Art, what I would do is get a new gmail address for friends and family and use your old spammy one for when you sign up for things.

I like Spam, especially fried. I do, too. Also Christmas fruitcake. We're not supposed to. It's fashionable to hate these, but I like 'em.

I always wonder how many of the people that say they dislike Spam have actually tried or are just going by it's reputation. |

I guess i don't really care whether they know my email address so long as they don't use it without my permission.. It's no more public than being listed in the telephone book. I think I have stopped a lot of spam by unsubscribing. The rub is that some sites give you an
been told that by "unsubscribing" you are inadvertently confirming that it is a valid email address "unsubscibe" button, and when you click on it, you get a blank page. Or there is no "unsubscibe" button. or they tell you it will take 7-10 days to unsubscribe. In the meantime, they are free to sell their mailing lists to other companies. The idea of using two different email addresses sound quite interesting to me. Thanks for the suggestion, all. |

Admittedly, I have something like 7 email accounts. One gets SPAM constantly. I just ignore it. It's the original account I had, and so much is already linked to it. So, I still use it for everything. Someday, though, I am going to get rid of it, and change everything over. It will be a lot of work, but I'll be glad for it in the end.
And, it is true. Certain SPAMs do use the unsubscribe link to validate your email address, amongst other things. In fact, there are some address lines that are even a tip-off to a scam site. For instance, there is one that operates out of Washington state. Clicking the unsubscribe link can bring your more trouble than you bargained for. I learned about it on a couple anti-scam sites, but I don't remember the URLs anymore. |

I like Spam, especially fried. Me too. I don't care what people say about it. Love the stuff. haha. My mom used to cook it coated with egg when were kids. :) MY mom's special recipe for spam for kids: Beat five eggyolks into a can of spam. Add sugar to taste, at least two cups. Sprinkle salt over it, liberally. Make patties, coat it in a crushed-peanut-duckfat-cholesterol cream, and deep fry it in an arsenic-based hydrogenated oil. Before serving, sprinkle with crushed razor blades. Store the leftovers in plastic containars, which can be conveniently stuck in the microwave for re-heating later. I am telling you. My eyes swell with tears of sweet memories of Mom's cooking. Mm-mm. |
