Stolen from somewhere else.
I'm still working on listening to the whole thing, but if you listen to the opening minutes (roughly 1:40 in) he specifically says that when American "interests and values" are on the line, then we intervene. Not just values. But also interests. Speaks wholly to what I've been saying, this has nothing at all to do with helping the people in Libya, or installing Democracy (just like Iraq didn't have anything to do with helping the people or installing Democracy). It's all about the oil.

I wouldnt jump straight to oil as the only reason. The govt wants leaders who "listen" to what we say i.e. tell them what to do.

Libyan oil is in France's interests (not to mention the numerous times France and Libya have 'tangled' - re Chad).

We don't use very much of that oil.

If we had not stepped in France would have been forced to 'no fly' with their limited resources.

The result would have been far worse than they could have imagined.

We have no business over there and the fact that this another oil country that we are bombing tells me its about oil. To hell with France, if they want the oil let them fight the war.

We would have ended up putting 'boots' on the ground to pull them out... (per nato and other treaties).

better this way.

Those are good reasons but would we and Nato be there if they didn't have any oil?

Yes. If we had a President with half a brain or military experience we would have been there sooner.

Pretty much every government in that region with the exception of Israel supports terrorists, and what he does to his own people is a civil matter and not the worlds!

I wish I knew, same with Syria and North Korea.

remember one thing... the more the oil is controlled by outside forces, the less the price will go up... why do you think the gas is at 3.75 a gallon now? because it hasn't been hitting the ports since egypt started this crap... sadam tried to control all the oil and it went uo almost 5.00 dollars a gallon... the more stable the regions there, the cheaper the oil will be...

Maybe. The cartel seems to operate on the theory of "Whatever the market can bear." One more Arab member would probably just go with the flow.

The price went down when the producers got greedy (more greedy) and started producing more than their quotas.
