Topic: Got soul? | |

How many of you believe in a human soul? And if you do, how exactly do you define it?
Or do souls even exsist at all? Are we just self-aware, walking meat and nothing more? Existential angst, you gotta love it I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on the matter |

The soul is the personality, emotions, intellect and animating force in a living being.

life is eternal
we have always been and will always be the soul, spirit, higherself, inner being..... whatever ya call it, is eternal our bodies house our essense ya can't kill a soul |

So where is the soul before our bodies were created? Or is it part of another body, reincarnation like?
(I'm not meaning to sound confrontational here, I understand it is a personal subject. I am simply interested in hearing as many views as possible. A friend of mine told me I think too much and should learn to relax on these 'deep subjects' lol) |

I do happen to believe in reincarnation...so manybe the soul in in another life form prior to 'getting in' our body..not for me to say.
We are creators..our spirit, or soul is everywhere. It's a vibrating energy that is part of the universe.. |

So where is the soul before our bodies were created? Or is it part of another body, reincarnation like? Jews believe that the soul is breathed into a creature when it takes it's first breath. In Hebrew, soul literally means "breath" or "wind". I believe that the soul is the animating spark that exists in most, if not all creatures. That means that anything with a soul is given the soul when it becomes a life. (I'm not meaning to sound confrontational here, I understand it is a personal subject. I am simply interested in hearing as many views as possible. A friend of mine told me I think too much and should learn to relax on these 'deep subjects' lol) I believe that God has endowed each of us with a desire to know and understand. Those who don't spend too much time thinking about the deep questions are going against their own nature. |

LOL! I suggest you get a definition first, since otherwise you will get a series of "apples vs orange" arguments.
You may not need the amount needed to play blues on the sax. |

Modifiers for the term “soul” do not make any sense to me. Are you differentiating between human souls and animal souls? What about tree souls, or rock souls?
Or do souls even exsist at all? Are we just self-aware, walking meat and nothing more? Existential angst, you gotta love it I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on the matter. Those are just rhetorical questions, but they do serve to point out the problem I have with the intrinsic bias of the question itself. It seems to be starting with the assumption that a soul is something that someone has, whereas I believe that a soul is what I am. For me, defining it is somewhat difficult because the only words that convey meanings anywhere close to what I intend, seem to be words that also carry unintended connotations. So with that in mind, my current favorite definition is “uncaused cause” - or “a causative entity which is independent of all other causes”. |

Oxtails with grits?
BB King? Does a rock have soul? or does rock and roll have more soul than blues? In the words of Led Zepplin ... "A big legged woman ain't got no soul!" |

I've always liked the idea that everything has a soul. It ties into the creation of life better. From whereever it initially resided, spirit manifested in the elements of our universe, eventually in such a way that life formed.
Of course, the way the Rosicrucian doctrine puts it, plants would have to have existed before animals, which I'm not sure of. So naturally, I'm not going to believe it just yet. |

<< Atheist
For me a soul is the combined properties of a thing that make it that. For me its my personality, my attitude, my shape, my form, my lifestyle, my hair style, my passions, my joy ect. No need for metaphysical spirit juice. |
