Columbus is much bigger than Dayton Ohio where I moved here from 4 months ago
It seems very fast paced for the midwest - even compared to Cincy or Lexington or Indy everything revolves around OSU and OSU football ![]() It seems to be - so far anyway- unfriendly - lacking a soul - there's a lot of stuff to do here and people are nice if u actually get to talk to them - but life is on flash-forward Everything is highways. you take a highway to get everywhere - kinda odd it;s a money city - a lot of wealth here & relatively good economy - even the poor slouches drive Accords ![]() |

it's not a question of IF you make it to texas, it's WHEN. and allow me to thank you in advance for beautifying the great state of texas with your presence (when you get here) btw you may want to practise saying "howdy" (texan for hello) that's too funny ese, I was going to mention that as one of the things I love about Aggieland! 'Howdy' is how you greet people and aggies are proud to say it :) This town is really amazing because of the tradition and the spirit here. Giving up on things is never an option and we pride ourselves in doing things right. Women nearly ever open a door because the guys here love doing it for you, cars stop to let you cross the street on campus, people are friendly, happy and open minded! We have yell leaders instead of cheerleaders. Living on a 100 acres of heaven along the river with 4 horses and 2 pit bulls is absolutely amazing. On the other hand, you have 50,000 undergraduates texting while driving so there are certain times of the day when you just stay where ya are til after 6pm! Luckily, I don't have to drive in the madness ![]() there's a song about this place http://pics4.city-data.com/cpicv/vfiles1062.jpg sorry, been working too much and my brain is mush by the time i make it home! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsz8sJ68udc |

Columbus is kind of an odd city. The happenings and social life is out in the burbs I guess. Downtown Columbus has changed so much in the last 20-30 years, they have done a good job getting a 'nightlife' to downtown with concerts, events at the river, the arena with games and concerts and events, etc. a lot more restaurants, oh and don't forget the new baseball field! So basically if you aren't into sports or bars you are outta luck, except for the occasional concerts here and there. I love trying to get out of downtown when there is something going on ![]() Check out The Weekender from the Dispatch - it has a listing of events downtown and all around Columbus. I think they still have the Gallery Hops - first weekend of every month - in the Short North - it's worth it -- once! ![]() The Franklin Park Conservatory is beautiful too. ....and I'm a poor slouch - I do drive an Accord ![]() |

Huntsville/Decatur, AL. Not a bad place to be. Huntsville is a city of technology. Its a growing place. Plus its kinda in the middle of alot of other fun places. Just a few hours away from Nashville, Atlanta, gambling in tunica MS, just a few hours more and your on the beach. Its a big city place with small town hospitality. Decatur is the River city in this area. Right on the Tennessee River. Makes for lots of fun in summer.

What about your city/town do you like? What do you think would interest others and make them want to visit? Let us know what's great about where you live. Em!!! You are SO sweet! I'd love it if cool people like you could have a grip of history around their own homestead AND about their outer surroundings!! Wait! That's You. :-) |

Nothing nice here in my town. Nope. Nada.
Art Carney used to live here, but he passed away. Katherine Hepburn lived in the next town over, but she's gone too. Jacques Pepin has a house two towns over, and he's still around. We have beaches, summer cottages, and a huge marina that once was the temporary home for Liberty3. Morley Safer, Charles Kuralt, and Max Showalter had homes in nearby towns too, but not here in Westbrook. Nope....We are part of the dead zone surrounded by more affluent towns. Jeff Bagwell and Vin Baker are also from neighboring towns....Saw Vin Baker play in high school....met him outside the gymnasium before the game. But nothing here in Westbrook....nope. People don't come here for the town....they come here for the surrounding area and Long Island Sound. |

Montreal, Qc, Canada
Someone here already covered montreal, so I'll only write about the underground city and give the link to a 2 minute video. Montreal, Canada is like two cities in one. Because we have what they call the underground city (ville sous-terraine) or "indoor city". It is actually the biggest underground city in the world. Meaning you can go straight from the office to the metro station without setting a foot outside. You can access hundreds of commerces, businesses, museums... everything you can think of, spread out in about 32 kilometers (20 miles) in the underground city. Here's a link about the underground city... there are some picture there too http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underground_City,_Montreal Montreal is the second larges french city in the world (right after Paris) But pretty much everywhere you go, people speak english very well... sometimes with a bit of a french accent. And this is a very brief video about the city... it's only 2 minutes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5Ob9qpmeLc |

Phoenix-
A city too big for its own good and devoid of any culture. I have been to Seattle, Austin, New York, Raleigh, even Albuquerque. They all have a certain sense of who they are, a city identity, entity, personality. Phoenix does not have this...it is sprawled out almost as much as LA, but the downtown area is comprised of a few skyscrapers thrown haphazardly together to try and manufacture some sort of center for the city. Not to mention the summers are unbearable (100+ degrees at midnight), the winters are also unbearable (being infested with countless "snowbird" 70+ year olds who devastate traffic and restaurant waiting lists) and the local talent as far as the arts/music scene is so stifled and hard to find that it is not worth the effort. Add on top of all these gems one of the world's highest child abduction rates and one of the nation's most racist sheriffs, and you have yourself a desert oasis that turns out to be a mirage. So...come visit Phoenix soon! We have good burritos! |

Aside from that it kinda sucks, we have a statue of Poncho Villa downtown for gawd sakes...PANCHO VILLA! A rapist, murdering thief and we have a statue of this creep downtown given to us by Mexico years ago. Other than that its like any other city with crime, homeless, gangs and corruption. I know what you mean. The town where I grew up stands a statue of general custer! ...a man who slew thousands of Native Americans and scalped them. It amazes me how a culture that stold most of the land that we reside on, can turn around and put him in history books as a hero. <scratching head> |

currently cold & dreary. Columbus is the State Capital in Ohio - surrounding suburbs are nice, has a great metropark system, people not that friendly but it is a big city - A couple of guys in the gym I joined have already hinted at attacking me in the parking lot - such has been my welcome thus far...I probably should say something to the gym management
it's typical big city - really have to be careful here |
