It depends on how little or how well you know each other.

In the examples L2P mentioned, the pick up is the first meeting....You get to talk for awhile, learn something about each other face to face. In today's world, that is what the first date is all about, so the pick up in his scenario makes it unnecessary.

Once I know someone, usually well enough by the second date, I will meet them at the door, walk them to the car, open car door, etc. I used to do that in high school. Back then, I already knew the girls to an extent before asking them out.

Now things are different....dating has changed. There are many women that don't want a gentleman or chivalry. Those women just want someone who is chill and laid back. They might even take offense to having a door opened for them, or having a man buy her a drink.

LOL just didn't make sense the difference between lying about who you are in person over the internet and as far as I know there has only been one internet killer. There has been many in person and they seem harder to catch in person than online so far......JMO.

"hands me my seatbelt". When I mentioned this a few years ago on a forum i was ridiculed. Sometimes those seatbelts are so far back it can hurt your shoulder to reach back for it. I guess the person thought I buckled her in.

Ok, lets put it this way. I have met a couple women off the net and looking at the pics and actually seeing them were way off. So, in meeting someone through a friend you actually get to see if your really interested in them or not. Being the net is a whole different thing. The lying part does work either way, but people tend to express it more being on the net then being confronted.
