Pet from the past, Dromeosaur! Hands down. Riding one like a horse would be a hoot especially teaching it to go hunting with me as a rider! Now a dragon sounds nice except it would think I was its pet. If anything the best I could hope for is to be friends with a dragon! Now a Hippocampus would be a laugh riot! I could go to Catalina Island on Horseback! Well, Hippocampus back. Then there is the pet Roc. Just feeding and cleanup would be hell though but it flies and if you are good you can train it to poop on command. Police cars watch out!
