I feel much better now about things. It is a glorious morning knowing Husseins and the democrats have been stopped, even though the dems still have the Senate they also still have the blue dog dems and a whole bunch of republicans to deal with.

So, when will we start seeing all the changes the Republicans have been talking about? When can we expect them to fix the country like they've been saying they will?

Depends on how many blue dog dems come over and what hussein does? my guess is this victory in the house just simply means husseins spending frenzy is over.

Taxes. It will always be taxes. As long as there are politicians, they will try to raise our taxes, the country needs people demanding lower taxes or we'll be taxed and spent into poverty.

do you realize that when they say lower taxes,
they're lowering them for the richest in the nation.
not for the middle class.
and if you tax the richest,
there is less poverty.

My point is obvious. A billionaire is going to spend more money and pay more in taxes. The rate doesn't matter one bit. If I spend $40,000 per year and you spend $10,000 per year I pay more in taxes than you. That is the point.

ughhh.
but the rate does matter.
>.<
idk how many times i've used this example to tryyy to get the point across,
but here it goes one more time.
lets tax a billionaire and someone who makes twenty a year both 90%.
who do you think is going to continue living an easy life.

But who wants to tax them at a 90% rate? If they are both taxed at a rate that is required to run the government it's fair. If they are both taxed at 90%, then it's unfair to both of them. It doesn't matter if the Billionaire can "make do" with 100 million. Besides, most Billionaires money is in their company. You take 90% of their money and you are taking their company.

No, they are lowering them for everyone, which is FAIR.

You have no proof that taxing the rich lowers poverty. We have been fighting the war on poverty for 40+ years and there are more living in poverty now than ever. So from the evidence, I would say that taxing the rich creates more poverty.

So what do you tea party-ers and republicans gonna protest about in the future?

Taxes. It will always be taxes. As long as there are politicians, they will try to raise our taxes, the country needs people demanding lower taxes or we'll be taxed and spent into poverty.

A person who earns zero income will always benefit off those who pay taxes.

The higher the taxes paid, the more the entitlements they will receive.

i'm using ninety percent to get the point across that you can't tax everyone at the same rate.
everyone doesn't make the same amount.

so living off about a grand a month sounds perfectly okay.

I don't think you know what the flat tax is! this means that someone who makes $15 an hour is spending money at a $15 an hour rate so they are taxed on what they spend. A person who makes $50 an hour is taxed on what they spen, the person making $15 an hour will buy a $25,000 and pay a tax on 25k whereas a person making $50 an hour will buy $65k dollar car and pay a tax $65k. This sounds fair to me, take away the income tax or as gabby giffords called it (a corporation tax)and install a flat tax.

Harry Reid just won in Arizona.

No ****? When did he move here from Nevada?

That was the compromise Nevada made, we would re-elect him but trade him to Arizona for McCain. laugh

lowest levels of poverty were in the fifties.

Actually, the highest level that poverty reached post Depression was in the late 1950's at 22.4%.

And, yes, the top tax rates were around 91% in the 1950's, but there were plenty of deductions and write offs, so that politicians could claim to be soaking the rich, while they were really scratching their backs.

I'm sorry, but you have to know that this post is completely wrong and a bit crazy. One example: Bill Gates has given billions to charities to help poverty stricken people in Africa and around the world. He has spent a fortune developing technology to make the lives of the impoverished better.

Ya know when these crazy people start talking about cutting taxes all they do is cut their own throat. The middle class and poor are the ones who benefit the most from government programs. Think collage grants or libraries or quality roads and infrastructure.

The fair tax would reduce taxes on the poor and middle class and apply a fair flat tax on people.

That's the plan. Keep reminding the unwashed masses of how much good the Government can do if they tax the rich. The truly rich like Harry Reid and John Kerry can get around paying taxes, while the small business owner making $250,000 a year before paying bills or employees or healthcare has to pick up their slack. It works out great for the wealthiest, but not so good for the small businesses.

That's how businesses work, they support the politicians who help them.

But I was talking about his charity work to help the poverty stricken people in the world.

Many foundations are tax shelters. The Ford foundation was set up as a tax shelter.

Jobs. What creates jobs is low taxes and few regulations. Poverty is made worse by programs that help to keep people in poverty. Instead of giving someone government assistance and letting them stay home, force them to get a job or go to a trade school. I would rather that the government pay someone's tuition so that they could go to night school and get a good paying job than for them to give that person food stamps and government aid their whole life. There are some people who just aren't capable of getting themselves out of poverty, due to a mental or physical problem. Those people should receive government assistance for life. But there are many people today who are on government assistance who could do so much more, but they aren't motivated to do so. The best help the government could give them would be to help them see their own self worth and see that they can dream to have more and live better. You do that through education and learning a trade.
