ouch! you go away to get some stuff taken care of and when you come back you find that not only has the house been broken into but some one slipped your dog a mickey and had their way with them.
there's a lot of B.S. on here about people claiming to know what happens in the world of combat today who have not one single idea. Fanta brother hooah. one clearification if you would allow me some space; medics carry weapons, doctors (at least in my unit 101st) carry at least a 9mm. nurses at a cash or field hospital do to. why is this, because they are the most targeted people in combat, the defense department has mandated that all personnel carry a weapon, the only exception is a priest, pastor, holy dude whatever you want to call him. MD's have the right to refuse to carry, but they still are issued. now, me being disturbed or whatever- i left to go get an operation, surgical repair of my left ankle which was broken in combat. four screws later im still gimping along. thanks for the kind words ADJ and red as well they are appreciated. i wont be on here as much as last time thank god, right) but i will be in ever once in awhile to check in with some friends, most of which i thought i could just walk away from, only to realize that, whats the fun in that. I love the debates here, sometimes foolish, sometimes silly, most of the time entertaining. if your are the unlucky ones who cringed because i showed back up on the radar, well have a coke and a smile and deal with it. slaps all around! doc |

Oceans... " We are familiar now with the torture of Iraqi detainees at Ab Ghraib and Bagram" Yes of course we are all familiar of this by a media that wanted to discredit the entire military for one isolated incident, that I would not even call "torture" as you suggest. There are worse "hazings" on every college campus in America then what was done at Ab Ghraib.Look into what POW's in Korea, Vietnam and what was done to POW's by the Japanese in WW2 and compare that torture. Maybe we should just have beheaded them, and record it on tape like our enemies , then there would not have been such an outrage! I'll agree that what happened in the places you mentioned was not very professional or appropriate for a U.S. soldier...but torture....please.
As for armydoc....don't know the man, and thanks Fanta for pointing out the brave and selfless men and woman that take these roles in a very hazardous field. I agree too that you can throw out the Geneva Convention, it was intended to protect only those from countries that actually signed on to it, and in no way protects "insurgents, terrorists" or others not wearing a "military" uniform. Armydoc..Godspeed and goodluck in whatever your future brings |

"Our feelings of dissatisfaction, unhappiness, loss of hope and so forth are in fact related to all phenomena. If we do not adopt the right outlook, it is possible that anything and everything could cause us frustration. Yet phenomena are part of reality and we are subject to the laws of existence. So this leaves us only one option: to change our own attitude. By bringing about a change in our outlook towards things and events, all phenomena can become friends or sources of happiness, instead of becoming enemies or sources of frustration."

Doc - hey, I've had that surgery too. Broke my ankle doing a carnival act on ice. Took surgery to reattach the achilles tendon and a plate with four pins up the ankle. Got an infection at the surgical site, treated it for about 5 months. But never stopped workin it. Took about a year of arobics and walking, trying not to favor it or baby it but you'd never know today I had any problem. Work it Doc, it hurts like a sun-of-a-&itch but the rest of your life is worth the pain now.
So very happy to be able to say HI again. |
