Do you live in a tourist area? I have lived in tourist areas for a large part of my life...in SO CA and now in AZ...Holiday weekends are a big deal. Everyone floods in with their boats and RVs... Traffic backs up and lines become longer all over town...There is a feeling of excitement in the air because everyone is on a mission to "party hardy" and have non-stop fun on the river or lakes...or in the casinos. I live close to Laughlin Nevada in the Desert Southwest. Have you ever been out this way?

I guess I do now. It wasn't always like this. I live in Arlington Texas. We have Six Flags, Hurricane harbor, The Texas Ranger Stadium and the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium. Plus Cowboys Dance Hall which is a big honky tonk.
I remember when the street that now circles the town was only a dirt road lol |

we have some big chain Hotels. We still have the Motel 6 and such that are cheaper. We have lots of restaurants all over the city here.
All of that is in the north part of the city. I'm south.....but it's growing down here too, just not the tourist stuff. We are getting new houses built and all down here. And to top it off....Arlington is in between Ft Worth and Dallas. Big tourist cities in their own right. Ft Worth is more of country tourists. Dallas is more big city |

Any of the beach cities here! Manhattan and Hermosa are the worst. Tourists can be such JERKS. At least Asians tend to be very polite but Eurotrash can be down right rude!

Not to mention im less then 20 mins from Lake Tahoe in one direction and 20 mins from Reno in the other. |

I live in a tourist area now since my move a couple weeks ago and it's crazy with labor day right now...a gazillion tourists on the beach today and will be all weekend.
I actually dig the idea that peeps come spend a fortune to play in my backyard...and I get to live here. ![]() |

I live between two small towns that are famous for civil war and revolutionary war history, 20 miles from Amish country, 10 miles from the Pro Football Hall of Fame and close to a big lake.. traffic is tremendous , especially in the warmer weather.. I have been to Laughlin 28 times...

Yes I do.
Northern Michigan is beautiful, and our town is right on Lake Michigan. Many folks have summer homes here, they start showing up in June. The population really shoots up during Cherry Festival in the first week in July and stays up til Labor Day when everybody goes home. Lots of week-end tourists too. In the fall we have lots of 'leaf peepers' checking out the fall color, winter brings snowmobilers and skiers. Oh lets not forget the retired folks too who head for warmer climes around Nov. and return in the spring. Some people complain about the: Leaf Licking Cone Sucking Trunk slamming Fudgies. But its cool, I came here on vacation and to visit my brother who had moved here. I moved here a yr later. |
