The point for me is that it has nothing to do with "color", especially of the skin... It has to do with light or dark as in the sky, heaven or hell...

The issue for me is not necessarily skin color, although, there are far to many references that make darker colors bad and lighter colors good and it being ingrained in society can cause unconscious prejudices based on these references.

My issue is that black is one of my favorite colors. Clothing, furniture, cars, etc... I don't like the reference to badness associated with it.

I love the color black as well. Deep Purple is pretty cool too. I will say anyone that says they never tell a little lie is a liar....smokin

i would agree.

But I do not agree that we should ever make it "acceptable" to lie.

I agree. I just think sometimes it is better to spare someones feelings as opposed to being "so" honest. If that makes sense.

I can't agree because "better" to me means acceptable and it should never be acceptable to lie.

It should be rewarded when someone can tactfully tell the truth instead of lying.

So you think you should be rewarded for making someone feel bad when it was not necessary? It comes back to intent.

Most people who don't tell little white lies are viewed a b*tchs or d*cks. i have no issues with that label, the question is do you?

I think being honest to the point of being rude is uncouth.. We can paint it anyway we want it but at the end of the day being kind to someone by telling a little "white lie" and saving their feelings is the kinder thing to do.. If someone needs brutal honesty there's nothing wrong with it but to be brutally honest just to feel you're keeping your integrity is really letting go of your integrity because to have integrity isn't just about being honest it's about how you deliver that honesty...

Nope. I don't give a chit what anybody says about me to be honest. I just think sometimes there isn't a point in being 100% honest with everyone.

What if you were walking down the street and someone asked if you had a dime to spare. Would you take the time to explain that you have a dime but you just can't hand it out........smokin

A white lie would be something you would say to not hurt someones feelings. "Those jeans certainly don't make your azz look big"........smokin

I disagree that white is good and black is evil. I believe they are all equal colors or lack of color in the case of white.

ancient greeks used white as the color of death...

The origin is interesting...

It’s based on the ancient Western idea of polar opposites, represented in popular culture through white meaning good and black its evil antithesis. We have white magic, for example, beneficent magic that’s opposed to the malign black variety. The term white paternoster meant a prayer or charm recited to protect against evil at night (of which one version that survives is the old children’s rhyme “Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Bless the bed that I lie on”). The opposite was a black paternoster, a spell recited to conjure up evil spirits or devils.
Along the same lines, a white lie is one that lacks evil intent, as opposed to a black lie, which is most certainly malevolent, though normally we don’t bother to specify that lies are evil. A white lie is harmless or trivial, frequently one said in order to avoid hurting someone’s feelings. The term is first found in the eighteenth century, when it suggested something slightly different:
A certain Lady of the highest Quality ... makes a judicious Distinction between a white Lie and a black Lie. A white Lie is That which is not intended to injure any Body in his Fortune, Interest, or Reputation but only to gratify a garrulous Disposition and the Itch of amusing People by telling Them wonderful Stories.

Fascinating stuff, that ... drinker
