that so few people use their real first name on here. Sometimes I feel like on on CB Radio, where everyone uses handles.
On ham radio, anyone can look up your call sign, and see your street address, licence class, birth date, and even your email address, but thats optional. I choose to have my email there so people can get ahold of me if their going to be passing thur Red Bluff, and wanna have coffee or lunch, which happens ocassionally, and so far, i've only met nice friendly people that way. Oh yeah, i've heard the internet horror stories, but how do you know when it's safe to exchange emails or meet someone anyway ? I think alot of guys are weird about sharing their emails address's too. If I ever do share my email address with someone, and find out their weird after the fact, I would just block them, or not answer them, if they can't take a polite hint. I can see having a username, because so many people have the same first name, but I can't think of a reason not to sign my posts with my real first name. Dennis |

Dennis You do know that with an email address, and enough time invested, using the right search terms...they can in fact find your home address, right? |

I'm all over the internet, my email addresses, mail address, real name, etc. All you have to do is look me up on Google. I run some sites and own some domains, I use my real info. in the whois, so people can get a hold of me if they really want to.

Dennis That is correct, but none of those people really care...keep giving out your email, I don't care, I'm just trying to help. There have been many noted cases where someone found someone off the internet without prior knowledge of address and they killed them. Don't take my advice, I don't care. |

Some use their names and some just use a screen name that has some meaning to them. I have given my other email to a few here, not many, but those I have developed a friendship with over the last year. There are even some that have my digits and we talk on the phone. Over time most everyone's name gets dropped in the threads anyway.
Anyone that's been on here awhile knows my name is Lori...it's not a secret or anything... |

For guys its different If my info was out there, the goobers would be on me like a bum on a bologna sandwich Ya just gotta block the goobers hon. Personally, if I start talking to someone, and they don't like me, im down the road with no hard feelings. On the other hand, if I start talking to a lady, or anyone, and they are afraid to exchange emails, then im also down the road. To me it's a huge insult, especially when im willing to give them my address. Dennis PS: I do understand where your coming from, but I still feel insulted when it happens, and thats why I rarely send anyone a message. I don't care where you meet people, creeps are everywhere, but life without a little risk would be very boring for me. Seems to me that if a guy is willing to give you his email and residence address, and phone number, he would probably be ok. Heck, if someone was going to come here to meet me, their more than welcome to bring a few friends with them, no problem |

Nice to meet you Lori, thats my ex GF's name also. Too bad she wasn't into riding like I am, but were still great friends. If your as sweet as she is, you won't have any trouble meeting Mr Right.
