Some use their names and some just use a screen name that has some meaning to them. I have given my other email to a few here, not many, but those I have developed a friendship with over the last year. There are even some that have my digits and we talk on the phone. Over time most everyone's name gets dropped in the threads anyway. Anyone that's been on here awhile knows my name is Lori...it's not a secret or anything... Nice to meet you Jayne, never seen it spelled that way before. Dennis Thank you, now im really starting to enjoy this site ![]() |

For guys its different If my info was out there, the goobers would be on me like a bum on a bologna sandwich ![]() Ya just gotta block the goobers hon. Personally, if I start talking to someone, and they don't like me, im down the road with no hard feelings. On the other hand, if I start talking to a lady, or anyone, and they are afraid to exchange emails, then im also down the road. To me it's a huge insult, especially when im willing to give them my address. Dennis PS: I do understand where your coming from, but I still feel insulted when it happens, and thats why I rarely send anyone a message. I don't care where you meet people, creeps are everywhere, but life without a little risk would be very boring for me. Seems to me that if a guy is willing to give you his email and residence address, and phone number, he would probably be ok. Heck, if someone was going to come here to meet me, their more than welcome to bring a few friends with them, no problem ![]() OK here's the thing... the few times I've given my email to someone guess what I got within seconds...yep you guessed it...penis pics ![]() ![]() So whats a girl to do? |

that so few people use their real first name on here. Sometimes I feel like on on CB Radio, where everyone uses handles. On ham radio, anyone can look up your call sign, and see your street address, licence class, birth date, and even your email address, but thats optional. I choose to have my email there so people can get ahold of me if their going to be passing thur Red Bluff, and wanna have coffee or lunch, which happens ocassionally, and so far, i've only met nice friendly people that way. Oh yeah, i've heard the internet horror stories, but how do you know when it's safe to exchange emails or meet someone anyway ? I think alot of guys are weird about sharing their emails address's too. If I ever do share my email address with someone, and find out their weird after the fact, I would just block them, or not answer them, if they can't take a polite hint. Dennis You do know that with an email address, and enough time invested, using the right search terms...they can in fact find your home address, right? So what, people can drive down any road and see where lots of people live. I really don't see your point. Dennis That is correct, but none of those people really care...keep giving out your email, I don't care, I'm just trying to help. There have been many noted cases where someone found someone off the internet without prior knowledge of address and they killed them. Don't take my advice, I don't care. I refuse to live in fear of my own species, and im pretty sure that if your nice to everyone, noone will want to kill you. Dennis Not always true, but whatever, also the rules state no email addresses on the forum. Email it. --Duane Moore |

Okay, here, since you seem to think no one would touch you because you are kind.
One: Online banking, banking period, almost every bank wants to tie into an e-mail account, once that e-mail account hits the internet...it is available to anyone and everyone. Do a search with your e-mail provider and hack, such as 'hack gmail' or similiar. Two: Address, a lot of people connect their home address to their personal e-mail account, you learn in the IT world that this is bad practice because e-mail passwords can be relatively easy to hack if someone knows enough personal information about you (birthday, close relatives birthday, last digits of social security number, 'password,' '1234' on up, city, etc.) Three: There is possibly pertinent occupation information available in your e-mail account...now we are getting into an entirely different level of hacking, now we have a business, even personal contacts, I mean...if they can access your e-mail account, who's to say they can't do the same to your contact list? --Scammers don't care if you are nice, they don't care if you are rich, poor, or middle-class. They don't care if you are married, have kids, or a dog. They don't care how many cars you own, whether you have a two-car garage, or a backyard. They just want your bank information so they can get rich quick, re-route deposits, and all-around **** your life up. |
