Thankfully I found a wonderful job with excellent insurance. (See some poor single moms don't sit around with their thumb up their rears waiting on handouts) I'm really happy that it passed and all of my fellow human beings will get the needed medical attention they deserve!! Being healthy and alive shouldn't even be argued about.

Being healthy and alive shouldn't even be argued about. You realize its not going to help many people, just an estimated 10-15% of people not covered right now. How much do you like your insurance? The reason I ask is because you will more then likely lose your current insurance for a lesser policy under this act. |

The vote tonight was NOT, as most think, about 'health care' or even 'health insurance' ... it is about Control - especially Control. It is the application of LENINIST, not Marxist, principles to OUR nation ... so what's Leninism? Read on ... then try to figure out which parts don't apply ...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/335959/Leninism Leninism Principles expounded by Vladimir I. Lenin, who was the preeminent figure in the Russian Revolution of 1917. Whether Leninist concepts represented a contribution to or a corruption of Marxist thought has been debated, but their influence on the subsequent development of communism in the Soviet Union and elsewhere has been of fundamental importance. In the Communist Manifesto (1848), Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels defined communists as “the most advanced and resolute section of the working-class parties of every country, that section which pushes forward all others.” This conception was fundamental to Leninist thought. Lenin saw the Communist Party as a highly committed intellectual elite who (1) had a scientific understanding of history and society in the light of Marxist principles, (2) were committed to ending capitalism and instituting socialism in its place, (3) were bent on forcing through this transition after having achieved political power, and (4) were committed to attaining this power by any means possible, including violence and revolution if necessary. Lenin’s emphasis upon action by a small, deeply committed group stemmed both from the need for efficiency and discretion in the revolutionary movement and from an authoritarian bent that was present in all of his political thought. The authoritarian aspect of Leninism appeared also in its insistence upon the need for a “proletarian dictatorship” following the seizure of power, a dictatorship that in practice was exercised not by the workers but by the leaders of the Communist Party. At the root of Leninist authoritarianism was a distrust of spontaneity, a conviction that historical events, if left to themselves, would not bring the desired outcome—i.e., the coming into being of a socialist society. Lenin was not at all convinced, for instance, that the workers would inevitably acquire the proper revolutionary and class consciousness of the communist elite; he was instead afraid that they would be content with the gains in living and working conditions obtained through trade-union activity. In this, Leninism differed from traditional Marxism, which predicted that material conditions would suffice to make workers conscious of the need for revolution. For Lenin, then, the communist elite—the “workers’ vanguard”—was more than a catalytic agent that precipitated events along their inevitable course; it was an indispensable element. Just as Leninism was pragmatic in its choice of means to achieve political power, it was also opportunistic in the policies it adopted and the compromises it made to maintain its hold on power. A good example of this is Lenin’s own New Economic Policy (1921–28), which temporarily restored the market economy and some private enterprise in the Soviet Union after the disastrous economic results of War Communism (1918–21). In practice, Leninism’s unrestrained pursuit of the socialist society resulted in the creation of a totalitarian state in the Soviet Union. If the conditions of Russia in its backward state of development did not lead to socialism naturally, then, after coming to power, the Bolsheviks would legislate socialism into existence and would exercise despotic control to break public resistance. Thus, every aspect of the Soviet Union’s political, economic, cultural, and intellectual life came to be regulated by the Communist Party in a strict and regimented fashion that would tolerate no opposition. The building of the socialist society proceeded under a new autocracy of Communist Party officials and bureaucrats. Marxism and Leninism originally expected that, with the triumph of the proletariat, the state that Marx had defined as the organ of class rule would “wither away” because class conflicts would come to an end. Communist rule in the Soviet Union resulted instead in the vastly increased power of the state apparatus. Terror was applied without hesitation, humanitarian considerations and individual rights were disregarded, and the assumption of the class character of all intellectual and moral life led to a relativization of the standards of truth, ethics, and justice. Leninism thus created the first modern totalitarian state. |
A GOOD DAY FOR AMERICA! It is a bitter pill for the Republicans; but, if they hadn't assisted in the Corporate Rape of America, government may not have had to step in. The ideology of those against this bill is the very ideology responsible for why we have had to come to this. Healthcare insurance is a necessity for all Americans, just like car insurance is required by law if you own a car. Only the wealthiest Americans can "budget" for their unforeseen medical emergencies; the rest of us are one hospital visit away from bankruptcy. Medical bills account for 63% of all bankruptcies-- unacceptable in a civilized country. Also, the lies strewn about by Republicans about the so-called "horrors" of other countries' public healthcare are pretty pathetic.
I think I am gonna stay away from this section for a while. The gloating is going to get to the level of ridiculous pretty quickly. No one seems to have a " wait and see " attitude. I saw the gloating and " nyahh nyahh " bullshite when the House passed it the first time. People don't give a damn whether or not this will actually good for the COUNTRY...as long as it's good for those poor folks. Don't do that, just save some of the gloating and save it until November and then after the results come in repost the gloating and see the responses then lol Nope. I don't gloat. I want SOLUTIONS. REAL solutions. Not some half baked 2500 page load of Big Government. Just think....14,000 more IRS agents to check up on people and make SURE that they are buying insurance. That will be seen by the Supreme Court for sure! If so it will be just like with Medicare it will be determined that the government has the right to do what it is doing. |
There is a BIG difference here, Dragoness. Medicare didn't require anyone to purchase something. |
LP you sound like you work in the political realm and have some professional experience in the field. explain how this will all go down, when it will take effect and if you or anyone you have worked for has read this thing please tell us what it really means! Yes in fact I do work in the political relm and have attended various schools, courses and workshops related to it. I have worked on over 50 campaigns 85% of the successful. A friend of mine works for one of the Senator's here in Nevada who has seen portions of the bill has said it's a nightmere. It looks like it wont go in effect until around 2012, and that's if the court proceedings are done by then. Honestly the only thing I need to know about it is that people are going to be forced to buy something against their will. That is unconstitutional period. That right there will tell you all you need to know about the bill. Also what happens next, first the government wants to take over and run health care what comes next? Religion? Private corporations? Private Businesses? Or what other constitutional rights do they want to take away? The right to free speech? The right to bear arms? The right to practice religion? It is a very scary path once the government starts to take over. |
You get Pwned in the conversation so you automatically post this exact same comment that I have seen you post in over 10 different threads when you have no other talking points to use or when you've been Pwned, but I will play along this time. Trillions to kill innocent people? Oh your talking about the Hundreds of thousands that Saddam or his sons had brutially murdered because they opposed him or because of their religion. No? Oh your talking about the millions that were raped, tortured, beaten, sodomized etc. By Saddam or members of his regime for reasons posted above. No? Oh you must be talking about the thousands of mass graves filled with the bodies Iraqui Citizens who had been there for years, decades. No? You must be talking about the millions that were Raped, Tortured, Killed and beaten by the Taliban regime in Afganistan. No? Hmmm. How about the millions of women abused by Taliban Officials, like the daily public beatings of women by Taliban Police Members? Some pictures are even posted on Taliban page of Wikipedia(Disturbing). No? Hmmmmm How about the millions who have been injured world wide by Terrorism strikes by members of AQ who was harbored by and protected by the Taliban? I can keep going if you want. |
I agree, iraq was a boon for Dick Cheyney and his cronies at haliburton, much in the same way this is a boon for the insurance companies who no doubt got into Obamas ear and promised him a lot of money in campaign contributions for pushing this. |
