Topic: boo to Obama.......... what my friend thinks about him. | |

Really??? Nothing positive at all?? Go ask ANYONE who runs a business what the first thing that drives prices down is. Competition. Supply and Demand. The most BASIC of economic principals. Instead of having three companies competing in a region, which really won't do much to lower prices, having 20 or more companies ALL COMPETING for the same customers absolutely WOULD drive down the costs of coverage. What you are suggesting will not change what we need to change in our healthcare system enough to boo at. So try something new on me please because this is not looking good if this is the best there is to fix things. |

I have also mentioned things like regulating the industry so that they can't deny people with pre existing conditions and making sure they can't charge more to women than men. It's not going to be one single solution. But a government plan isn't going to be the solution either. Especially one as complicated and clunky as what is being proposed. I know you have said that we can get something passed and then fix what doesn't work later...but can we REALLY afford to do that with the economy in the shape it is currently?? If something in that bill doesn't work ( and I would be willing to bet it would be more than just one or two things ) it could very well be catastrophic and undo ANY progress Obama has made ( as questionable as the idea of him making any progress at all is to some ) up to this point. |

Considering, like some of the stimulus stuff, there will not be healthcare reform even if it passes until probably after Obama is out of office. He has no hope of another term because he is getting blamed for all the crap he inherited so we all know that. Why everything takes so long in this government is beyond me. Point being we won't see it for quite a while still after it passes so effecting the economy, it can't. Now the changes being talked about are not enough. Have you checked into the changes that were made in healthcare reform during Clinton's term? There were changes made then, just like what you are suggesting. They didn't help any. Now I am off to bed. I will check for your response tomorrow if I have time. Good night. |
