females were equals until agriculture came around and the domestication
of aimals, and soon following the religions of control. but ultimately
mot of history can be debated cause you have to wonder who wrote the
books who gave the synopsis of the culture what view points did they
insert what's true what is false, then what's been changed over time so
basically all we're left with are turtless ( interpretations) and we'rea
ll building upon that..

however i still say that AB's post to this thread leads to a conclusin
that he has a christian background that he has taken and applied to his
own theories, and therefore his 4 points cannot fit on to all forms of
non christians.

SG I agree

"however i still say that AB's post to this thread leads to a conclusin

As a new member I don't want to jump to conclusions so I'll wait to see
what he has to say. I say there's a little denial I guess

This thread has had so much breathing room in the past few pages! I
see lighthearted humor, and I see people with different perspectives
actually sharing, without being attacked. This is great!

Its the contrast with the previous pages that motivated my comment....

Oh jeepers Spider, your sense of humor is just killin' me. So if we now
know what ArtGirl prefers based on your basis thought, then you should
find my humor equally amusing for that comment to her and the part about
men not thinking due to breasts hanging out all over the place - Now we
know which head you think with, don't we?????? Isn't humor great????

I mean, I feel that you guys are actually -talking- about the question
of gender roles in earlier cultures - not just saying 'is not' and 'is
too'. Spider is having fun with it, Art has a great sense of humor;
valid points are being made, it appears people are actually listening to
each other, and no one is being needlessly negative, hostile, or
closedminded.

Wow, This was so much more fun to read than all those "would you... the
person above/below you" threads. And I really liked it that no one here
ever once, no not once, asked "do I look good to you?"

Absolutely proof positive, this is the place to be. You are all so full
of life in this thread. So great to read you all.

Oh, and welcome Wildone! Always refreshing to hear a new poster.

Wonderful weekend to you all!

sorority, my point was one god/goddess. I doubt god has a gender anyway,
if "it" actually exists. One source, one energy, does this make it more
palatable for you? It doesn't always have to be about gender!!

I honestly believe that for the majority, this all boils down to a
popularity contest. Very few are here to learn anything or share
knowledge with others. Just who's smarter, can argue better or has a
good memory for information.
I remember first impressions, second and so on. The way people treat
each other. Their general attitude towards life. This is a sad
commentary on human beings some days.

Wow! n it amazing how many posts and not one insult.

Life is good.

How can any one say a single thing about the Minoan culture and be
right.

They have never deciphered the Minoan Language. All points made by any
archeologist are simply a reflection of how they see the picture
represtented by that cultures Art.

Minoan language is called Linear A.

Since Linear A is as yet undeciphered, there is effectively no
contemporary textual evidence regarding Minoan religion. Even if Linear
A were deciphered, it is unlikely that much information regarding Minoan
cult practices, much less Minoan religious ideology, would be
forthcoming above and beyond the names of the divinities which the
Minoans worshipped.

By their art it would appear that they 1. Allowed females a lot more
freedom within the social structure than the Greeks did. 2. Sacrificed
people in their rituals. 3. Sacrificed animals in their rituals. 4.
Important male figures in their art do appear smaller than the female
figures however most of the time the male figures are depicted in the
air above the female figures. (wonder why this aspect is ignored by
archeologists?)

And as other religions I have read on the oldest archeological finds
indicate that the religion started with a single Diety.

God or Goddess matters not. Single entity does. There can be only one
God. All additions a simply a construct of man made to ritualize the
experiance and control the message

>> God or Goddess matters not.

In your opinion.

>> There can be only one God.

In your worldview.

>> All additions a simply a construct of man made to ritualize the

In your worldview, and in mine.

I have some strong reasons for my world view.

If God does exist he is, by the words of the prophets, in essence all
things, created all things and is infininte.

Therefore there can be only one, Yet that one is manifest in all things
and at our currently level of understanding we can only see small
aspects of that truth.

If you are looking at a tree and see a small piece of God you might
think He was the tree and miss the part of him that is in yonder rock,
or in the man you see in the mirror.
