Yeah, can you even imagine if the power grids across the US went down? Talk about looting, riots, killing for a bottle of water and morsel of bread.

That's exactly how I feel about it, there's nothing we can do about it.

I know it is different, just saying that maybe there is some over reaction, just like it was then

Yep, over-reaction. At least the Y2K scare was at least related to an actual bug. I knew 3 communities of people who really thought they were going to be without water and power for months because of the the Y2K bug, which is crazy talk, but the bug was real.

This other business about 2012 has even less basis for concern.

Apocalypse (Greek: Ἀποκάλυψις Apokálypsis; "lifting of the veil" is a term applied to the disclosure to persons of something hidden from the majority of mankind.

NOT the end of the world....

NOT the end of the world....

Originally, that was true but now the most common usage means "end of the world".

Yes, when the tower falls, a truth is revealed. It is the lifting of the veil. A spiritual awakening. Of course all hell breaks loose too.

It is the tower in Tarot.

Here is the physical manifestation of the Tower in our reality:

9-11 marked the beginning of the revelation of the truth.

Hey, if I was God, I'd have hit the 'ol reset button on this video game a long time ago.

One of my favorite short stories was about God, as a college student, with the Earth being his class project.

He only got a "C" for it. And I believe he was told to try again.

I stopped reading after the part about the Earth's rotation stopping. Is this a rough draft story for "The Core 2"?
Seriously though, if the rotation were to stop, the planet would disintegrate and we would all float off into space. The rotation is what holds planets and other celestial objects together.

Actually the rotation has nothing to do with holding the planets together. It is just a coincidence that they even spin, and some don't. The moon spins once a month.

I stand corrected. Sort of a tangent, but interesting, regardless:

"What happens to all the earthlings, if Earth stops spinning? Will we be thrown off the Earth's surface, since Earth is spinning at ~1000 mph?

Of course, this can't happen, but if it did, everything not attached would go flying off to the east, parallel to the surface of the Earth. The speed would depend upon your latitude. Only the people at the poles would be safe. You wouldn't go flying off into space because the 1000 mph maximum (at the equator) isn't enough to overcome gravity, which would still be present. If you survived, the resulting six month day and six month night would probably take care of you pretty quick.

The above quote is what would happen if the Earth stopped spinning instantly but all the people were still moving at rotational velocity. A more realistic question would be "what would happen if the Earth stopped spinning over the period of say, an hour. The answer is nothing would happen. You may not even notice. Of course the side facing the sun would fry and the other side would eventually freeze solid.
