Topic: How many of us can tell when someone is sick. | |

I did not know where to post this. But this has come across my mind and I would like to find out how many people can tell when someone is sick or having a stroke or heart attack?
I have personally seen the symptoms of a stroke or heart attack in my life. And I possibly just saved a person from having a stroke on 12-26-09 by knowing what symptoms they are having. How many of us are able to spot symptoms of a stroke or heart attack to save a persons life.? |

I don't think I would know beyond the basics they tell us to look for.. pain in the left arm (sometimes it can be on the right side of the chest), pain in the chest, difficulty breathing with one of the other symptoms.. That's about all that comes to mind... I'm afraid I'd be a bad person to have around...

heart attack symptoms can and often are very different for women then men. We all grew up hearing the male version but news is spreading that may save a women's life. I am not expert but...one female symptom is a feeling of indigestion, scary thing about this is that taking an antacid is the worst thing you can do if it is a heart attack! Check it out on line and learn the differences, I need a refresher myself.
There are three things to look for to determine if someone is having a stroke, can they raise their right arm seems like maybe one of them... Anyone know what I am thinking here cause my memory of details is sketchy at best. These are things we should all know - you may save a life by knowing some basic info....Going to do a search and get myself up to speed! |

I'm not sure about a heart attack to be honest. But a person that is acting very differently from their normal behavior is a huge warning. By that I mean someone that is normally responsive becoming unresponsive, incoherant, confused, immobile.. all warning signs

Stroke... can come across as someone being drunk, confused, slurred speech, numbness, unable to walk straight (these can also be signs of may other things such as diabetic complications)
Heartattack... intense persistant pain in chest, arm or back, strong pressure, bad 'heartburn', not feeling right, sweating. |
