Star Trek-
And I say this without even being a "Trekkie". It was just an awesome version done by J.J Abrams. |

Star Trek- And I say this without even being a "Trekkie". It was just an awesome version done by J.J Abrams. Or a Trekker. The term was reimagined after the Original Series and the next phase started with Next Gen in 1987. And yes, I agree, other movies of 2009 be damned, Star Trek tops them all by a wide margin. By the way, there will be a second Trek movie, or twelfth, depending on how you're counting. The script is supposed to be finished this month, and will go into casting and production in 2010, with a release in 2011. |

I dunno if it was from this year or not I just watched Juno and it was such a cute movie that I got all warm and fuzzy and sniffly Haha. I dragged my kids to that, and they ended up loving it. (Slumdog Millionaire, too) The old man still gets one right, once in awhile. That was last year, tho. This year, my 13 y/o daughter made me take her and a friend, to "Whip It." It was a similar genre and surprisingly good, but probably not movie of the year. My son made me take him to "The Hangover." Not exactly Oscar-worthy, but I loved it. That would probably be my pick. |

Juno was from 2007, but I agree ... it was a good movie.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0467406/ I have to go with "Star Trek", but I didn't see too many movies this year to be honest about it. |

District 9 was cool and Gamer, still want to see Law Abiding Citizen.
And The Box sucked! |

District 9 surprised the hell out of me, and was much more interesting and better done than i expected from the trailers. Star trek reimagined was a welcome breath of fresh movie making style. I saw Inglorious basturds, and it was okay, but the one scene that absolutely made it FABULOUS for me, was the subtle interrogation near the beginning of the farmer trying to hide the Jews under his house. That was the BEST written interrogation scene I've EVER seen, and at 56, I've seen a LOT.
