Clinton at unveiling of statue of himself





PRISTINA, Kosovo — Thousands of ethnic Albanians braved low temperatures and a cold wind in Kosovo's capital Pristina to welcome former President Bill Clinton Sunday as he attended the unveiling of an 11-foot statue of himself on a key boulevard that also bears his name.

Clinton is celebrated as a hero by Kosovo's ethnic Albanian majority for launching NATO's bombing campaign against Yugoslavia in 1999 that stopped the brutal Serb forces' crackdown on independence-seeking ethnic Albanians.

This is his first visit to Kosovo since it declared independence from Serbia last year.

Many waved American, Albanian and Kosovo flags and chanted “USA!” as the former president climbed to a podium with his poster in the background reading “Kosovo honors a hero.”

Some peeked out of balconies and leaned on window sills to get a better view of Clinton from their apartment blocks.

To thunderous applause Clinton waved to the crowd as the red cover was pulled off from the statue.

“I never expected that anywhere, someone would make such a big statue of me,” Clinton said of the gold-sprayed, one-ton statue.

Yes his behavior was foolish and disgusting as a sitting President at that time. Sorry, when you are in a position such as the president, there are standards and they are supposed to set examples. He made a complete fool of himself. Haha you don't want to get me started on is "wife".

Well, rather than Clinton taking this opportunity to honor himself, i feel it would have presented him with an opportunity to remind the world that we fought for justice and human rights in this particular military action..

We fought on the side of the Muslims. It wold have been a good idea for people to sit up and recognise that the US isn't on a mission against Islam and this war in Kosovo is a good example of that.

Ultimately, it'll just be another monument to the cult of the Clinton personality, as demonstrated in this thread, rather than a monument to the force for good that this country aims to be..

Back before it was accepted, Bill supposed to have had an illigitimate kid with a po' black woman and paid her off to stay quiet about it.

Clinton is the man sure he had the morals of an alley cat. He did more for this country than a lot of other presidents. I will not say their names you know who I am talking about though.
Although I am a huge Clinton fan I think I like Obama a little bit better time will tell.
