Are these men terrorists by today's definition?

"In 1948, Deir Yassin had reached a non-aggression agreement with a
nearby Jewish settlement and had asked combatant Palestinian forces to
leave. But the village 'had the misfortune of being on land the Haganah
[the nascent Israeli army] wished to designate as an air field.'
Moreover, Deir Yassin was the 'target of two gangs that wanted to prove
themselves.' These gangs were the Irgun and the Stern Gang, the first
led by Menachem Begin and the second by Yitzhak Shamir, who both later
became prime ministers of Israel.

The Irgun and Stern Gang 'were not fighters. They were better at
throwing bombs into an Arab market' and at hanging unarmed British
soldiers. But in combat, 'they really weren’t up to much.' At Deir
Yassin, they 'were taking casualties.' Fortunately for them, the
Palmach, or the 'shock troops of the Haganah,' were passing by and they
joined forces. After they took the village, the Palmach withdrew. The
Irgun and Stern Gang stayed.

That day, the Irgun and Stern Gang massacred 100 to 130 people. Many
argue that 250 people were killed, but Eisen said the number he uses is
more accurate. The higher number came from 'the boasts of the Irgun and
Stern Gang leaders as they sat drinking tea and eating cookies at Givat
Shaul that evening.' Although these leaders boasted of their victory,
they did not boast about the men they loaded onto a truck and 'parad[ed]
… through the Jewish suburbs of Jerusalem' before shooting them at a
quarry. 'They didn’t boast about the children of Deir Yassin who they
dragged from under the bodies of their dead relatives' and 'dumped,
traumatized and still bloody, into a Jerusalem alley.'

Although the 'Zionist leadership screamed their condemnation,' they
exploited the massacre with loud speakers, surrounded various villages,
and committed acts of 'ethnic cleansing.' The news 'spread like
wild-fire,' people fled, and Palestinians were dispossessed. By the end
of the year, Deir Yassin was reoccupied by Jews from Romania and
Chekoslovakia, the cemetery was leveled, the 'name of Deir Yassin was
wiped off the map.'"

Notice this Author is a professor at a Jewish University!!

Baruch Kimmerling, Professor of Sociology at the Hebrew University, and
Joel S. Migdal, Professor of International Studies, University of
Washington, in their 2003 book entitled The Palestinian People p. 23-25,
wrote the following:

"In the 1880s, the Jews could not have been percieved as very different
from the Templars, a marginal group of evangelical Germans who settled
in Palestine at about the same time...Most of the country's rural Arab
population was simply unaware of either group's
existence...Nevertheless, Jewish land buying, mostly of state-owned or
notable-owned tracts [of land], did affect the local peasants and
resulted in numerous land disputes...

Even if the scope of Jewish land purchases was limited, they did shape
future Jewish-Arab relations. The Jews were establishing an economy
based largely on the exclusion of Arabs from land they farmed and from
the Jewish labor market. Slowly, the most fertile lands in the northern
valleys and in the coastal plain passed to Jewish hands, with jobs and
higher wages going to the Jewish newcommers. The logical conclusion of
this process was the separate development of the Arab and Jewish
economies and, eventually, the creation of two separate nationalist
movements."

Good morning, everyone!

Coffee, coffee.....is the kettle boiling yet???

Oh, uh!

Kimmerling: he is on target until the last sentance. Jewish purchases of
land are quite different from an assertion of sovereignty over htem. I
own my land here in Bethesda, but I do not have sovereignty over it --
that is retained by the United States and exercised by our government.

So while Jewish land purchases in Palestine might tempt some Jews into
demanding their own country and sovereignty, it would be a wholly false
temptation. What would be needed, for the Jewish State to come into
being, was the Zionist impulse -- the political desire to do so. And
this desire had been launched well before the mass migration of Jews
into Palestine began.

(See Theodor Herzl, the founder of political Zionism)

In any case, fast forward to 1947-48. At the time Jews in Palestine,
backed by massive financial and military support from Jews elsewhere,
such as the World Zionist Organization, declared the formation of a
Jewish State and through military action seized some 60% of Palestine,
Jews only owned about 7% of the land.

Yet even today you will hear some die-hard defenders of Israel assert
that they just bought the land fair and square, so they never really
conquered it. Those who assert this are duplicitous: 1) land ownership
does not equal sovereignty, and 2) Jewish conquests vastly exceeded the
land that they owned.

Deir Yassin: their were actually many of such massacres, quite apart
from the systematic efforts to expel the Palestinians (See the First,
Second and Third Removal Committees). Under international law, the
Palestinian refugees that this created had an immediate right to return
to their homes; Israel denied them this right and does so even to this
day.

Were they terrorist acts? Of course.

It is ironic that now that Israelis complain of terrorist acts against
them, but don't recognize the prevalence and effectiveness of terrorism
in the origins of Israel itself.

NOW, I'm awake!

Good morning again, everyone! Or evening, depending on time zones....

It is more than the Bushs karsi, its everyone since , forever. If you do
not search for your self in this country you will never hear the truth
on this matter. Its never mentioned, never taught in schools, never. I
guess since we are a Christian driven society, we write and teach the
history according to the truth as we want it to be.
Even in Sunday school its never mentioned. I guess its hard to get
Christians to support the displacement and killing of millions if they
know this stuff. Makes you wonder how much history here is orchestrated
by the church to fit the script. The bible says the Jews will return to
Israel, but it doesnt say we will force the Palestinians and Arabs to
make it so. After all, in the bible it is the Jews divine right, their
homeland. Therefore it cant be wrong, can it? Perhaps it was forced to
become true!!!

When you hear stuff like this, Ahmadinejad has made anti-Israel comments
in the past.

In October 2005, he caused outrage in the West when he said in a speech
that Israel's "Zionist regime should be wiped off the map."

It looks a little different..........
