John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band is known primarily for the hit "On the Dark Side', made famous by the movie Risky Business. The name of the band was taken from a can of paint that was labeled 'Beaver Brown'. Lol, you're right, obviously. and I knew that..... mental fart I interviewed John Cafferty when I was in radio. He was just a regular guy. I got the impression he didn't quite get the 'being famous' thing. |

Prince's follow-up to Purple Rain was initially what is known as "The Black Album", a curious collection of tunes that sounded nothing like it's predecessor and containing nothing that could remotely be considered a hit single. Prince decided to not release it a week before it's intended release but a thousand or so copies managed to make it into circulation. It is now a highly sought after collectors item ( I happen to own a copy). Eventually he released "Around The World In A Day" instead which featured the hit Raspberry Beret...and nothing that appears on "The Black Album".

The Jimi Hendrix Experience was the warm up act for The Monkees national tour in 1968.
The closest they came to Canton, Ohio was Cincinnati, Ohio. My one buddy and I were going to go, but he ended up having to work. So much for when you don`t have a car or drivers license at the time, and going into your senior year of high school. LOL. |

For The Beatles "Yesterday and Today" album, a collection of previously released Beatles songs, the band chose to appear on the cover in butcher smocks holding up bloody doll parts. On the eve of it's release all shipments were pulled and had a more conservative picture pasted over the original cover. Luckily, one employee at the warehouse kept a box of 25 copies of the original. These copies of what became known as "the Butcher Album" now sell for upwards to $25,000 a piece.

The Rolling Stones were contractually obligated to record one more song for Decca records before they could be released from their contract. Being as un-happy with they were with Decca they fulfilled their obligation by recording a song called "C***sucker Blues". Needless to say Decca never released the song, but they did release the Stones.

And, for the low brow ...
Jackson Browne's song 'Rosie' was actually written about the loneliness of sex for one, masturbation ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbpL0BTBJPs She was standing at the load-in When the trucks rolled up She was sniffing all around Like a half grown female pup She wasnt hard to talk to Looked like she had nowhere to go So I gave her my pass So she could get in and see the show Well I sat her down right next to me And I got her a beer While I mixed that sound on stage So the band could hear The more I watched her watch them play The less I could think of to say And when they walked off stage The drummer swept that girl away But rosie youre all right -- you wear my ring When you hold me tight -- rosie thats my thing When you turn out the light -- Ive got to hand it to me Looks like its me and you again tonight rosie Well I guess I might have known from the start Shed come for a star Might have told my imagination not to run too far Of all the times that Ive been burned By now youd think Id have learned That its who you look like Not who you are But rosie youre all right -- you wear my ring When you hold me tight -- rosie thats my thing When you turn out the light -- Ive got to hand it to me Looks like its me and you again tonight rosie |

The three piece Canadian band "Triumph"'s first ever U.S. concert was held at Pullar stadium, here in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan....and guess who won tickets on the radio?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXlYBWxjQXs Music hold the secret, To know it can make you whole It's not just a game of notes, It's the sound inside your soul The magic of the melody Runs through you like a stream The notes the play flow through your head Like a dream Like a dream Like a dream I sing this song for the common man For the people in despair I bring my song into the world And I sing it everywhere The simple truth lies waiting here For everyone to share So hold on, and I will take you there Hold on and I will take you there The daily routine takes your soul, Lost without a trace It hold you down and turns you 'round And puts you in your place Another day, another dollar Another pretty face Another chance to lose yourself In the endless race CHORUS Hold on, hold on to your dreams Hold on, even though it seems Everyone around you has their little schemes Listen to your heart and hold on to your dreams Can't you feel the magic Feel it everywhere Can't you hear the music There's something in the air There's a celebration Deep within a song Celebrate this feeling, You know it can't be wrong CHORUS Caught up in routine, You got to break it Time won't wait for us, We got to make it Fate gives you the chance You've got to take it Take it Hold on |
