Pete Townsend claims that his creeping deafness was not in fact caused by the tremendous volume of The Who's concerts but rather by listening to headphones at high volume while drinking vodka. On The Who's 89' tour they hired another musician to play electric guitar while Townsend was relegated to playing acoustic guitar in a clear plexiglass enclosure that allowed the audience to see him but helped minimize the damage to his hearing.

Bob Dylan once took an Elvis painting from Andy Warhols Factory studio as "payment" for a screen test for one of Andys movies. He tied it to the top of his station wagon and drove off. He subsequently used it as a dart board and then traded it for a sofa. The painting would be worth well over a million today.

After Lou Reed left The Velvet Underground, effectively ending the group, part time member Doug Yule went on to record an ill fated record titled "Squeeze" under the name The Velvet Underground even though it contained not one original member. It quickly disappeared and is now long forgotten.

Hijack away, please!!! ... laugh

I'm a huge fan of threads taking all sorts of tangential directions ...

Besides, all roads seem to usually lead full circle back to the original topic, only to depart again!

And, I'd always rather listen, than speak; I live to learn new info, no matter how trivial others might consider it to be.

That IS exactly the reason that I began this thread, thirst for musical knowledge ...an immense turn on for me!!!

And, you are on topic: Musical Trivia ... shades ...

So, if one chooses to take over this thread w/ bountiful musical informationals??? ALL the better!

Please do, fire away; this is open mic w/out time or posts limits!

Most of you know me to think outside the thread and to encourage rules be broken ...

IF they be broken in the name of art, entertainment, provoke germaine discussion, friendly challenge, education, questioning and discovery ??? ... Then, SO much the better ...

This thread is reading as if its own encyclopedia ... I'm enjoying it immensely, please, do carry on!

Here is to the musical info coup ... back to you, Bob ... laugh
