Well I think it might depend on who has more "issues". What I mean to say is the "co-dependancy" factor. I think girls might have a little bit more of a problem because they might "cling" to the guy. I think girls give up much for the guy. Well that was me before, unfortunately. But it could be so either way. But I'd think I'd have to go that guys can get over it "sooner". Please correct me if I'm wrong, men.

in my case, my x moved on quick...it took me quite sometime
and again i think it all depends on the situation

The situation itself tends to be rather destructive, but yes, whoever finishes things generally seems to get over it quicker.

Ironically, my ex finished with me first weekend in may last year, and I still to this day (albeit 2 weeks ago we tried again and after 4 days it didn't work out), have not managed to pull myself out of it completely.

But i'm sure my situation of lots of work and not much play at all contributes to my length of time to get over her. The more I get myself out of all work and no play scenario, then I feel I've got a better chance of moving forward.

And things are starting to look/feel a bit brighter at the moment. (although the weather around me says differently.. its raining)

I don't think it's gender specific, some people tend to remain stuck in the past, some choose to move on, has nothing to do with being male or female.

Yes I agree with the majority here. It is not gender specific.

I think if your doing the dumping you get over it quicker but believe both male and female can feel the same way after all it is your broken heart we are talking about. Anna x

depends on who is more emotionally invested.

My impression is that if nothing happens, the guy grumbles for longer. If there had been intimacy and furthermore any promises for a brighter, better future, then the gal is stabbed in the heart by the break-up.

A baby or two, and both are devastated by it.

If the guy leaves the gal because she has had a double masectomy, she will slump into a depression.

If a gal leaves a guy because he had a forlkift-operating accident, he just buys a bigger car on the money he saves post-relationship in the lessened financial-load mini-climate of his own.

It's not a good form to leave a woman for another woman half her age when she's burying her parents and is going into chemo. But I've known guys who did just that.

A movie that showed this was "Sisters".

Who gets over a relationship quicker? A women or a man???

That's such a generalization it's like saying where is the best place to live on Earth? Really what is the point of such a question? Are you trying to imply that men aren't emotional and don't have feelings? Keep believing that and see how your dating life goes.

One more thing, I'm over it, I'm happy being single, I've experienced more freedoms than I've never experienced in the last 5 years. I'm feeling happier than I ever have been in the last 20 years. Was I meant to be single? No. I was just in the wrong relationships. Here's to the future!drinks drinks drinks

I think women or men learn what come out of a failing relationship.
I just keep trying to find Mr right.
