I'm not judging anyone with their choice of mate. I am concerned, though, at where "consenting adults" will be drawing the line with regard to marriage. For instance, gays have been fighting for the right to be married. Okay. Consenting ADULTS. But, who is to define what is blasphemous or too odd next? What happens when two consenting adults, like brother and sister, father and son, whomever, want to marry, too? Blasphemous to you? Well, so was the thought of gay people not too long ago. Will these other "different" unions expect their rights to wed? (And this does not consider making babies, even.)

I oppose all government sanctioned marriage. Marriage is a religious ceremony only (which makes married atheists all the more ironical).

Why do people have to be all hateful toward one another, on both extremes? It seems so needless to me, so pointless. I just had to read a book for teaching in a couple of months called Tiger Tiger, about the colosseum and all the persecution. Why do we do that to each other?

My theory is that it stems from a lack of objective moral virtue. At one time, this was taught in the home. Since the State supplanted the family, virtues and morals have steadily eroded. tears

I have to agree with skpgc. I think marriage should be left as it is or I fear we will end up with no guidelines at all besides that adults be 'consenting'. Imagine these poor kids having uncle dads, or aunt moms, sisters marrying brothers, etc. I think the guidelines are there for significant community reasons. I dont oppose people loving whom they love but sex is a different issue and an expected part of marriage that I dont feel should be promoted by government, except in the original relationship which brought us all about,, man and woman.

My personal views on marriage are mine, for me, and only for me...

My son is about to get married...that's his choice, his beliefs, his decision.

My thoughts are exactly the same for anyone else..their choice, their beliefs, their decision.

Irrespective of gender.

Marriage is not a religious ceremony to EVERYONE... that is preference, just as who a person chooses to marry is preference.

In America, it's also a quasi-legal ceremony (hence the license requirement). If it were only religious, there would be no real controversy, as some sects are already willing to marry gays. (the gays who want to wed could go to the appropriate churches, etc.)

I may dis-agree with same sex marrage--but you are 100% correct--The government has no legal right to get involved with marrage. Like most things they have overstepped what was intended

Marriage is not bound by religion its the ceremony which you hold to symbolize the union that is religious. Those who do not have a basic religion has the right to a ceremony by the justice of the peace. Or probate judge. And god is not the same as God. And the fact of marrying within the family. There is a religious group who does that. Polygamy supports a multiple marriage. And the most of them keep within the family. If thats what they want then ok. I havent read the bible but what about adam and eve? If they were the only man and woman God created, then does that not mean they kept in the family when procreating? If it wasnt wrong then what makes it wrong now? Idealistic views on how society should be. We as people have let government or others think for us. Most of us say we think for ourselves, but for what views? The ideals of someone else's thoughts?

1. Just because society says it's inappropriate doesn't mean that
it is.
2. Everyone should have the FREEDOM to choose whom they want as
a life partner regardless of gender.
3. Nobody has the right to be judgemental towards how another
individual chooses to live their life.
4. EVERYBODY NEEDS LOVE...OH YEAH....EVERYBODY NEEDS LOVE!bigsmile

Of course two people of the same sex should be allowed to marry. I see no reason why it shouldn't be that way.
