LOL...not sure what all those numbers are...but do know the murder rate
and violent crime rate as decreased an average of 7.5% every year since
2000.

Yes I would agree that it definitely seems like crime has been getting
worse and worse as time goes on... but I'm curious to see the population
difference as well? Anyone else think that population increase may play
a big factor? I would like to think (naively) that our society isn't
just getting more evil!

I wonder how those numbers would relate to the number of illegal aliens
entering the country during the same period? Not to say that just
because you are a citizen of the U.S. you are law abiding, but I am
willing to bet that every time the number of illegals went up, the crime
rate went up with it.

Lower percentage of people in the engineering field.

Obviously people are bored.

Increase the inflation rate a little, inflate the economy and stimulate
commerce.

That will get more people into the engineering schools. People will be
less bored as they will have more meaningful occupations and greater
hope and faith in their futures.

Or open more restaurants and give everyone jobs as waiters and that will
keep them too busy trying to cheat the tax system with their tips to
have time to commit crime.

Fanta the numbers are misleading.

Increase of violent crime is due to a change in what Gov now considers a
violent crime.

Apparent increase in rape is because of changes in reporting procedures
and more people actually reporting said crimes as social stigma
associated with being raped is changed due to educational programs.
Actual rapes might have increased by only a 10th of a percent. There
were just as many rapes in 1965 per 100,000 of population people just
didn't report it as often because 'it was their fault'.

That sounds realistic to me ad.

What about the thefts and burgalry though?

What could that be?

It has become necessary for some to feed themselves by preying upon
others. The taller becomes the pyrmid the wider the base to support it.
The poor are the base of the roman system.

I agree with AB. Fanta, perhaps the theft and burglary rate is due to
the rampant drug crap. Can you find a breakdown as far as the percentage
of those crimes committed by someone looking to support their next high?
Just an idea/thought.drinker

Sorry AB, but you flew off on the left on the second post. The hungry
and homeless have free food and housing available to them. We can argue
about welfare til the cows come home but you know the answers even with
the rose colored gasses on. happy

AB, I'm starting to grow fond of your posts. You are a little deeper
than most but each time I think I am starting to grasp what you are
saying, you take another toke and head to Chuckie Cheeses for a

I have no rose colored glasses.

If youve never been homeless you have no idea how limited the system is
where they are concerned. In order to get into those programs you must
at least be able to establish yourself. It is easer to make a bit from
a stolen car stero than it is to find a place to shower.
