Why is it that whenever I start talking to someone that is nice they have to live in another state? I can never ever fine a nice man here.I'm not saying that there probably any nice men here, just can't seem to find them.So ppl from n.y. don't go getting angry at me.What do I have to do move? Well at least you in the continental united states. I am stuck way up here in alaska... I do feel for you. I remember when I first came out on the dating sites thinking oh boy.. Then nothingin my area. thank God for the forums.. |

7 or 8 hours IS a terribly long time to drive to meet someone...for an hour long cup of joe...then 7 or 8 hours back? not to mention the 2 tanks of gas (one up and one back)...
But I think an hour or two is the most I am willing to go. |

If one is willing to open their heart, they should also be willing to open their minds to the idea of change. If you are so happy with what you already have, then no, you probably are not willing to explore other possibilities... which causes one to limit themselves.
Personally, I met a wonderful person, and no, he is not in my own backyard. We emailed, chatted on phone for many months, and decided to meet. And he was worth every bit of the time and than some. We both have the same values and morals and we just clicked it seemed like immediately... So our ldr is 2500 miles. But it does take the right 2 people, and a willingness on both sides to accept the situation as it is for awhile. The ldr part is only temporary... thank goodness... My opinion is that maybe... one does need to get out of their own yard to find what they are looking for. |

Yanno every since they did that show about men in trees there has been this myth about the ratio of women versus men up here. If there is 10 men for every woman I and my friends would sure like to see it. I love Alaska!! I claim it my home.
Kewl!!! Alaska is beautiful period. Different lifestyle once you are out of Anchorage. Seriously though, I have traveled out of the country to meet someone that I had a connection for. I guess everyone has their limits, I knew that I was single and distance would be the least of my worries.. I also think LDR's are very hard unless there is some great communication in the beginning of who is going to move and who isn't.. For the lffe of me I dont' understand how people can put a 75 mile limit on finding that one person... |

That ldr stuff sounds great and so romantic and all. I knew a couple who were married after years of phone and internet communication. Her in the states and him in Australia.
The did have a few opportunities to meet when he would come here. The thing is, for a first meet, you never ever know what you are gonna get. And and 8 hour trip would most likely require an overnight stay. Which would require at least $200 for a hotel for one night, an over night sitter (for us single parents), gas money and date money...just to meet someone. That is a big bill to flip for someone you have never met, and odds are against you that you will click (if they were on your side we all wouldnt be here still searching) And if you do really hit it off, it may be difficult to go back to that hotel room alone (a temptation I would rather avoid the first time I meet a man). And as stated earlier in this thread...you can drive to the next country to meet someone, invest the time and money, for someone to just blow you off, like yesterday's news... |

According to my friend list and their location, i would be overflown with dates if i would be living in Texas. Don't know why it's always has to be a Texan to find a common ground. |
