Topic: The World of Fantasy | |
---|---|
This is a thread to talk about "Fantasy", especially books, but it can be about movies, or maybe writing if you are a writer, or games if you like. I will always post something about fantasy in this thread for everyone to enjoy. So have at it and make this the most unique fantasy thread on Mingle2!
Here are a few questions you may like to answer to get the thread going. What type of fantasy do you like to read or watch? Who is your all time favorite fantasy author? What is your favorite fantasy movie? If you where able to escape this planet what kind of race or creature would you like to be? |

There was a great short lived live-action fantasy series back in the early 80's called Wizards and Warriors, and later on in the 90's when watching Hercules and Xena(I enjoyed both of those)their humor reminded me of Wizards and Warriors... |

Terry Brooks and Robert Jordan are both working on films in the future. As you probably already know they are best selling authors for many years now.
Also Steve Jackson is working on the movie sequel of The Hobbit. He did a great job with the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, so I would believe The Hobbit will be great. |

I never got into Terry Brooks, I have enjoyed the late Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. Peter Jackson is only producing The Hobbit, which will be split into two films. Guillermo Del Toro is rumored to be the director. I also really love Stephen King's Dark Tower series, and The Talisman. Steven Spielberg has owned the rights to The Talisman since the 80's, and was at one time going to direct a theatrical version...now he is producing a TV miniseries version. |

Terry Brooks and Piers Anthony are my two favorite fantasy authors.
I have decided to try my hand at writing and the project I am working on seems to be going along the lines of the Xanth series. |

I am surely looking forward to watching all of them. |

Terry Brooks and Piers Anthony are my two favorite fantasy authors. I have decided to try my hand at writing and the project I am working on seems to be going along the lines of the Xanth series. I almost took a writing course with Terry Brooks on a cruise ship to Hawaii. He teaches for a very good price how to write fantasy. Maybe one day I will do this. It is rare that you have a successful fantasy author to take time off their schedule to teach ot tohers write. Usually you can find his offer in the Writer's Digest showing a cruise ship and picture of him on it smiling. lol Piers Anthony! How can anyone not hear of this name right. Yes you have two great authors indeed. Let us not forget R.A. Salvatore. Did you know that R.A. Salvatore as of Terry Brooks helped George Lucas write some Star War Novels. George Lucas picked some good writers to make his story sound even better then it already is. |

Actually...I started reading his book about how to write, but I found that his style, what he does to get going and keep going, just wouldn't work for me. He is too " ordered ". He makes an outline of the story before he even starts writing it. That just wouldn't work for me. Definitely a very good writer though. |

I like to take a little bit of each author's knowledge and then create my own style of writing. The main thing is to write each day a little, because it is all in the practice. And of course reading alot is very helpful to increase vocabulary. |

i write urban fantasy. i have one full novel under my belt, one novella, and countless unfinished projects. i have a writers blog that i've posted rough drafts, first final chapters and so on. i looooove urban fantasy.
high fantasy kinda makes me feel weird inside LOL it depends on the writers i guess. i got through the 6th wheel of time book by robert jordan and said "yeah... i'm done" lol never picking up another. i however, absolutely love Terry Pratchett, neil gaiman, anne mcCaffrey and so on. :D i enjoy laurell k hamiltons series before they turned into hardcore porn and find book eight.. obsidian butterfly to be my fave. :D i heart edward. the original edward. not the pansy *** created by meyers. :p i'm talkin about the sociopathic murderer and hunter :D yeah that guy. ooohh fun lol sadly i followed neil gaiman on twitter till i had to remove him because he tweets like a crack addict. |
