I will leave original answer and further expand/comment ... Empathetic projects, big and small, start in one's own backyard and front porch ... To illustrate my own deeds is too close to braggin' for me ... but the great works are, indeed, afoot!!! ... Trust ...

Well last week I offered the guy who was laying tile in our office a piece of my homemade gingerbread. And I wanted to follow the homeless person on his bike and give him money, but he was gone before I could get to the bank and get back to him.

The 'We' of my little world...
a group of the local high school kids have a fascination with the macabre...and went about organising and fund raising a Buto workshop.. (Japanese macabre theatre). They worked in their lunchtimes to acheive this...learning everythig they could about historical origins and the intense discipline used in this form of theatre. They acheived their goals...and performed for the school and visitors last week... They have been invited to perform at the Opti-Minds Competition at State level, they are that good. Last Thursday night a mob of us got together for the full moon drumming circle, at one of the local campgrounds above one of my favourite beaches... We ended up with the whole campground guests joining in... nannas and grandpas with wooden spoons and pots tapping out a rhythm, little kids belting out a rhythm on plastic water drums....the smiles, the laughter, the conversations. We shifted the energy from 'dang hippies' sideway glances to one of unity.
