I believe the stories portrayed in the bible were written in and about an area of the world where white man did not live so the assumption would be correct that the people of the bible would not be white.

Historically accurate information would make almost all artists renditions of the events of the bible inaccurate.

Of course the importance of this information would depend on your faith in the bible as accurate. Which for me it is a story book of parables and inuendo from a time gone by, not a book of information from god as implied. So to each their own.
