Um, we're not required to date just because we're on a dating site. Did you forget it also has the option of "looking for friends" or "looking for activity partner"? Many people have that on their profiles, read what they're looking for before approaching them, so you aren't pursuing someone you can't have. It's unrealistic to think you can convince someone to date you, just because you're interested; if I don't want to date online, there's not much you can do to change it.

Besides, even if everyone was looking to date, it wouldn't guarantee you success, because everyone is different and looking for different types of people. I might be looking to date, but every guy who approaches me has kids, or is too old, or isn't good-looking enough, it could be anything. So I still wouldn't have any luck, but it wouldn't be the fault of the site- or the people- it'd be me. I'd be being too picky maybe. But yeah, narrow it down to at least people who are looking for more than friends, and you should get better results. Good luck.
