Yep, my grandkids (17,19 and 24) share our music too.. It's a great way to keep in touch with your kids.. When younger the boys were always after me to take them to the spooky movies.. They know those are my favs as are there's...I even went to a Metallica concert with the 19yr old and had a great time.

The bike has a lil something to do with it...but you know that "cool" is really defined by the rider...

thats fantastic.

some people get stuck in a generation and never leave it. i have an aunt who won't let go of motown. and an uncle who can't get past the late 60's rock revolution.

i personally feel the more eclectic you are.. the more interesting.

For today's lesson, I'm vascilating between Godspell & Jesus Christ Superstar...? She picked up the JC reference quickly in Tommy...don't know if I want to jam too much alternate religion down her throat...ohwell

Yesterday, I was watching some You-tubes with my 8yr old niece...her music isn't bad, BTW...& decided to turn her on to The Who's rock opera "Tommy"...she fell in love with The Pinball Wizard & of course the soap suds/baked beans/chocolate scene with Ann Margaret... Now how cool was that...to share a blast from the past with a kid 40yrs younger than me?!? smokin

How do you bridge the Generation Gap?

If i may,

I would like to interject this..

We can do a lot of good with what we've learned in life..Children need guidance, i'll give you that, but you know....

Just every once in a while...Children can teach us a thing or two..

More and more I am finding myself stuck inbetween two different generations of people. When I am at work with guys who are older than me, they have never heard of half the music I listen to, and they can't understand how I can go from Skindred, to The Temptations, then to Ludacris, then to Metallica, and finally finishing it up with a bit of the beatles.

At the same time, one of my friends neices who is about 7 years younger than me "claims" she has a wide range of music, but when I was talking to her, she honestly had no clue who Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, or even The Sugarhill gang was. She had no clue what Woodstock was.

Kinda makes me wonder ya know?

That's why it's up to us to share our experiences...I was grinning ear to ear to know my lil niece was so receptive...very cool kid!

"Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of life's longing for itself.... seek not to make your children like you, seek to be more like your children for life moves not backward, nor tarries for yesterday."

Children teach us all the time if we let them.
