it is times like this and only this..that I really need a man.. You don't need a man. Just read up on clutches and at least sound like you know what you are talking about when you go see the mechanic. That's right...Is there anything in the women's world that hasn't fully been replaced by some device or other alternative, that used to require a man? Can't think of a single thing. Anyone? |

it is times like this and only this..that I really need a man.. Do you have any male friends that would be willing to go with you? Last year, I went with a female friend when she wanted to buy a new car, because so many car salesmen think they can take advantage of a woman's perceived lack of knowledge about cars. Fortunately, the one she ended up buying from couldn't have been more the antithesis of what you generally hear about car salesmen, but you just never know ... Anyway, I imagine it'd probably work the same way with mechanics, especially if you have a guy friend who knows enough about cars to talk with the mechanic intelligently. |

That's right...Is there anything in the women's world that hasn't fully been replaced by some device or other alternative, that used to require a man? Can't think of a single thing. Anyone? I'd like to take a poll and see just how many men know a thing about clutches. Bet there are many who have never driven a car with standard transmission. And yes Atlantis, I can think of a couple things that can't be replaced. |

And yes Atlantis, I can think of a couple things that can't be replaced. "a couple of things" ...Now, men has been reduced to be only good for a "couple of things". Give it 10 years..it's gonna be "a few things"..later "not much of use" and eventually "useless". |

Sounds like it needs a little adjustment or could have a defective pressure plate. Either way, shop should make it right.
Spring in pressure plate could have broken after you left their shop. Defective part, parts supplier pays them to redo the job. Get it back ASAP. Questions mail me. |

Could be 1 of three things
1. Slave Cylinder Here's a question for ya. If you put the clutch pedal to the floor wait a second or two, then let your foot off as fast as you can, does the clutch pedal return all the way to the top immediately? Or does it pause an inch or so from the top and then return slowly? 2. Flywheel Depending on the car, Oem parts can come bad straight from the box. Theres a piece of rubber/plastic thats job is to align the flywheel. These have been known to cause some of the same problems you are describing. 3. Throwout bearing This is iffy, any mechanic worth his salt should have changed this piece when they redo the clutch. If they didnt, tell them to change it. Its pretty vital that once the clutch is out this low dollar piece needs to be changed upon replacement. All three of those things should have been either replaced/serviced/looked at during a clutch job. If they havent, then you need to take it to another mechanic. These are musts when it comes to clutch jobs. TM |

well he replaced some sort of Bering...and yes the first thing...it slowly comes up,,

Here's some possibilities. 1. they installed it incorrectly 2. they did't resurface the clutch disc 3. they didn't replace all the parts 4.on some cars clutches need to be bled to get any air out of the system 5. they put the wrong parts in.

well he replaced some sort of Bering...and yes the first thing...it slowly comes up,, Bearing. I see. I was reading this : If a newly installed clutch is slipping, the most likely causes would be oil or grease contamination, incorrect release system adjustment, a defective cable adjuster, a blocked clutch master cylinder port or binding slave cylinder, a misaligned or improperly installed release bearing, or improper flywheel machining of a step or cup flywheel. http://www.automotive-clutches.com/basic_clutch_info.html |
