Here it is, almost 3am, and I'm awake. No better time to write, eh?
I love my country you know it's true I just cannot say ALL I've done for you. I can tell you about Alaska, and Ft Polk and Georgia, Ft Hood But I can't tell you everything it'll do you no good. I can tell you some things you don't want to hear about Soldiers, and War-time but that's not why I'm here. I sit here and ponder just what to write next About Freedom, and Soldiers and how we are Blessed. To live in a land where some take for granted the Freedoms we've fought for, Democracy planted. If it takes root we all will be blessed if it does not, don't second guess the reason we tried- the reason we cried- the reason we died. To call a man Brother when he's not family To call a man Sir when he's not Elderly It's part of our creed, it's part of our need, to be part of the Breed. A Soldier, an Airman A Marine, and a Seaman A Cop on a beat But not wearing blue His beat is not local, But his heart is true. Standing Watch at 3am when you're tired from a long day Cleaning things Over and Over without ever using them Thinking about ~HOME~ when you're 7,000 miles from it, and the reason you're doing what you're doing now becomes apparent. Baseball, Hot Dogs, and Mom's apple pie. ------------------------------------------------------- God bless the US military |

They offered their lives For you and for me, So we could live our lives Happy and free. We are free because of What they have done. They are our heroes Each and everyone. Let us all over our great Land today, Show them respect and Honour without delay. Our military is Second to none, We salute them each And every one. Baseball, Hot Dogs, and Mom's apple pie. ------------------------------------------------------- God bless the US military http://www.usa-patriotism.com/poems/gp/freedom_free-02.htm Freedom Isn't Free All down through the ages, Since mortal time began, Men have fought for freedom, Fought wars, man to man. And those who would enslave us, Have used their agency, To try to convince the masses, That we should not be free. And yet the soul of man cries out, And yearns for freedom, too, To live their lives and do the things They really WANT to do. And here in America, The banner of freedom stands, A symbol of America, The land of helping hands, And hearts that yearn for freedom And liberty for all, And willingness to share it, Who answer freedom's call. And yet, the world hungers For freedom and liberty, So they may live the good life, And be all they can be. And we who know true liberty, Have fought the battles here, And also in foreign lands, To share what we hold dear, Defending and protecting Our loved ones in the fray, While pledging our allegiance to The good old USA. God bless us as a people, And as a nation, too, And all who defend our nation's cause, And our Red, White and Blue. And may we never ever forget The cost of liberty, And those who paid the ultimate price, No, freedom isn't free. I so testify By James H. Lee Jr. |

We have lost many soldiers the last two weeks. We must remember them in our prayers and hearts.
Keep this thread up to honor the ententions of Vanessa for our troops. To honor our troops and not forget they are still in harms way...and we want them home to their families and country. Bless our men and women far away and on their way. Kat |

ELEVEN more soldiers and marines KILLED in Iraq and Afghanistan last week.... Never forget as long as our people are there. It isn't as close up as some would think. War is still rampant and killing is still getting the lives of our loved ones.
This thread and those like it NEED to stay up so those who don't know or forget...KNOW we are still THERE and dying. Kat |
