Topic: Argumentativeness | |
---|---|
papersmile and I disagree on lots of stuff. But we don't dwell on our differences rather than our commonalities
arguing/debating for the sake of arguing/debating is tedious and usually causes me to go look for something else to do |

I know there really isn't a difference in arguements and debates...but in my warped mind...I classify an arguement as a type of fight and can be heated or disrespectful. a debate (to me) is a civil arguement of different sides and in the end....can walk away to agree to disagree or something of that nature.
I only say this to avoid any arguements about my posts in here. this way people can TRY to understand my warped mind |

The question is that if you are on a date with someone, and that person gave you the impression that he or she is very argumentative, would you go on further to continue to date that person? It depends, are they intentionally seeking arguments? Do they have difficulties understaning things? |

Argumentative is NOT debating...
Argumentative is intentionally being obstructive.... and opposing in every aspect, and usually declines into intentional demeaning behaviours....there is little respect with an argumentative type person...it is an ego feed... and an elevated sense of superiority. Debating is where the respect is constant, and the ideas are opposing.... it is very different. |

I'm not saying that I would automatically give in, but, generally I would rather not argue with anyone.

We are all unique and diverse creatures... we have a whole residual bag of emotional triggers we walk around with...and at best we can recognise ego from genuine belief structures...at worst we react, and the whole ideology behind communication gets trampled on... I find that when people who shall remain nameless.... decide they are far more superior in their ideas, get the bum's rush from me...how to stop an argument? agree with them... YOU know you are right for YOU...and that's all that really matters. |
