Ok I was listening to the radio today and there was a discussion on about the type of man a woman would choose.

The two choices:

- A big, tall, broad shouldered man, possibly not a skinny reck with big hands like spade heads

or

- A smaller, very vein man, six pack, pecks, muscles and everytime you go out he paying more attention to himself rathe than you.

Ok the above were the two choices which were given, back in the olden days woman would prefer the safety of a bigger man and felt a lot safer when they knew they had this lovely big man to protect them.

It turns out that many woman prefer the bigger man because they do tend to feel more comfortable with them, and they are not looking in every mirror they pass, they feel special because the man is focusing on themrather than themselves.

The lady was sying that she had tried going out with a vein fella when she was a lot younger, just the once and never again, because he sat and looked in the mirror all night at the restaurant.

Anyway, which would you choos and why?

There is no easy answer because there are exceptions.

First, I assume when you mean 'vein' man you actually mean 'vane' as in shallow and not the blood vessel. winking

I am only attracted to the second choice. I like tall, lean (never thick), sinewy, hairless bodies. I have known many guys that have the 'look' but not the attitude (mentioned in the choices). Conversely, I have known big guys that are total neanderthal jerks!

A bigger man does not equal being my protector. That is an archaic thought. A man can protect me with his intelligence and common sense rather than his physique.

The physical characteristics and the intellectual developments have no correlation. A man can be big and dumb or big and intelligent. A thinner man of vanity can be dumb as a stump or highly adept.

This all relates back to stereo types, and antiquated ideas of what a 'real' man is in life.

I'm a fitness trainer and I work with gyms rats all day long. Although I prefer the body type, not all of them have the character I seek: visa versa, visa versa all day long. I just don't see the connection.

I don't need or want a man to feel protected. Not only can I take care of myself, I want an equal, and that won't come from his body!

This remind me of Lombroso's atavism theory of criminal behavior based on the size and shape of a person's skull and whether they will commit crime based on being a born criminal!

What I don't like about that choice is that there are only two choices. But there are many men out there of all different kinds of looks...

My question is, what does it really matter what he looks like? As long as he has a wonderful personality and great character. Great looking guys can and often are complete jerks, and therefore look bad. While sometimes the average joe kind of guy is incredibly nice so he looks a thousand times better than the "hottie".

I don't want a "hottie" because he looks good. I want a good man who would be a "hottie" for me, whether anyone else thought so or not...

Potato eating size does matter...bigsmile

I am surrounded by big men....my ex hubby, my sons...most of my male friends..

Vanity...a vain man?

What's attractive about a man who obsesses about HIS outside...other than he is obviously not so secure with who he is on the inside...???

Pass...give me size over hair gel anyday...bigsmile laugh

What kind of choices are those? Big, tall, and handsome vs. Small, skinny, and vane. Granted most women claim they are not attracted to someone based on body type, the big burly man usually wins, especially when the small skinny guy is all egotistical. I take it this is a completely biased and loaded question based on some type of personal experience.

Excuse me...I just feel compelled to do this...

Vein- tube carrying blood around a body

Vane- flat piece of metal, etc, especially which moves with the wind and indicates it's direction

Vain- without real value or importance, having excessive pride in oneself, conceited.
