Do you have a great local festival near you? If someone wanted to take an impromptu trip to your town...when should it be and for what event? |

We have all kinds of events in Houston every weekend. Just this weekend we had keels and wheels in Seabroook Texas thousands show up.
Cars and boats. There is an endless list that I do not have. Get in tuch and I will fined out. I work all the time. BECAUSE OF HOPE AND CHANGE. But this is the season and there is not a weekend that goes by that there is not a major event. |

We got the Sweetwater RattleSnake Round up...it is a weekend filled with cool stuff and extreme creepyness.
We also have the Barbarian Days festival just down the road where the guy who wrote "Conan the Barbarian " (Robert E. Howard) lived...I love an event that lets me walk around in a fur loin cloth. Other than that...every other thursday they have ArtWalk down town...bands play in the streets and dance companies dance in the parks and on the sidewalks. Local artists set up on the side walks and several art galleries open to show local work while highschool and college drama clubs perform. It is really cool and a pleasant and relaxed atmoshpere. These are a couple of pix of down town where they do ArtWalk... |

Some times I do...a friend of mine owns a really nice gallery and happily let's me display my stuff but, during the summer I am too busy to attend or even come up with new paintings..so it is a hit and miss kind of thing. |

Our local fair is in the first part of August. This year, the Thursday night show is Alice Cooper, and the Saturday night show is Blue Oyster Cult.

Krupa! I'm surprised you didn't mention the Rice Fest! Oh yeah! Rice Fest has nothing to do with Rice. A really cool Mother and Daughter open up thier property for an annual party that lasts three days. Everyone brings a dish or something for the grill. People come from as far as Cali to hang out with old friends..play volley ball, swim, listen to bands play get sh*t faced and after dark the left handed cigarrettes come out...(but, in private)....plenty of activities for the kids...(generally 20-50 of them) lots of 30-50 year olds and quite a few that still come in thier mid 70's......this year will be the 23rd annual Rice Fest...haven't decided what I am gonna cook but, I may have to drag Que down to attend her first one. |
