believing in something that is a false ideal is akin, in my mind, to drinking alchohol in order to forget reality.

people need to deal with life in the real world instead of burying their head in the sand and thinking if they wish really hard and tap their heels together 3 times, everthing will be ok.

it's when you keep your head on straight that you can come up with real solutions to real problems.

Marshall McQune are we? the medium is not the message, it is not that we believe in Santa Claus, what we believe in is the idea of peace, sharing, giving, kindness, love and that someone is looking after us and we are safe and that we as an individual is enough. So we make props to help us feel this way, because in our busy lives we forget. How many times have you found it too late to say I love you, but you can say baby can I take you down tonight; sorry is all that you can't say, the years go by and still the words don't come to easy (wait a minute, when did Tracy Chapman work her way in here). That is what is called an Archetype, very important in human psychology.
