I believe every country has very intelligent people. These charts only show on a average, but it doesn't mean because the country isn't on the chart that there are no people with high IQ's living there.

I am sure Ireland has highly intelligent folks there inventing or discovering something special for the advancement of the people.drinker

Now, put those IQ levels against the money those people make? You will see who are the real dummies.

These IQ tests, test nothing but an ability to take these types of tests.

Disclaimer:

I know, I know, none of us makes any good money, because we don't want to. Not that we can't figure it out. We just see the other purpose in life.

I like this saying: If your so smart, how come you're so poor?

bigsmile

Smart doesn't equal money only materialistic people think that way.

Smart means you have within your brain whole lotsa information.

I find smart men extremely sexy.

Rish not so much.

The love of money is ugly.

Lots of posts for something that's not even possible to determine.

IQ tests - who developed them? Were they standardized? Were they created for the specific cultures?

Because I can you, we don't even have accurate IQ measurement tests for the various cultures that exist in the United States. All the current tests are racially biased. Take that a step further and there's no way to accurately use the results of a test developed in the U.S.for other countries.

An IQ test is generalized and the questions must be specifically taylored to the individual culture in which they will be given.

I don't think even anthropologists have enough time, current information, or money to develope the number of tests and then give them and somehow determine how to make the cross-cultural comparisons?????

But Smiless you sure got a bunch of naysayers - I wonder what the responses would have been if the U.S. had been on top.

Most of this discussion on IQ is old news. Several years ago a book was written called the "Bell Curve" which discussed this topic in great detail and piled statistics on every aspect. The book was trashed by critics everywhere for being "politically incorrect". The Jewish population was shown to have the highest number of geniuses and the black race the least.

Standard IQ tests are distorted by their very nature. Key elements of how the human mind are generalized and only certain areas are tested. The standard test does give a "general" rule of thumb as to the capabilities of someone to perform certain tasks. Someone with an IQ of 90 probably will not make it as an engineer but may paint like a genius. One engineer or scientist with an IQ of 120 may out think and out design the pants off of another engineer or scientist with an IQ of 140 with the same education and background.

Someone with a low tested IQ can come up with profound statements which have taken geniuses lifetimes to discover.

I've always considered the IQ to be rather limited in it's scope. I'm not sure we even have a firm grasp on what intelligence is or how it works.

IQ doesn't really have that much to do with book smarts either, its more about the way you analyze the information given to you in the test. I belong to a High IQ society and we are not all book worms think
