It's kind of fitting that if she had to go...it would be behind the wheel of a car. She loved cars. She loved the whole world of racing them. Heaven now has a real Rainbow Warrior and I am sure that Jeff will get a little help from her this Sunday in the race!!

Tony Eury Jr. will be following Dale Jr. to Hendricks..Here's the report!!
"Tony Jr. and Dale have a successful history working together," Hendrick said. "They have trust in each other, which is the biggest part of the relationship between driver and crew chief. We have the utmost confidence in their ability to win races and compete for titles at Hendrick Motorsports." A Kannapolis, N.C., native, Eury will move to Hendrick Motorsports immediately following the current NASCAR season. He will continue the work of Darian Grubb, who will finish the 2007 schedule as crew chief of the No. 25 Chevrolets before moving into a senior competition role with Hendrick Motorsports. "Dale Jr. and I are both excited to continue working together," said Eury, 34, who has been Earnhardt's crew chief or car chief for the majority of the driver's NASCAR career. "With the resources we'll have at Hendrick Motorsports, it's an opportunity to consistently run up front and be in title contention every year. The goals are winning races and winning championships." Grubb, 31, who hails from Floyd, Va., will coordinate the at-track engineering efforts of the Earnhardt and Mears teams with emphasis on supporting Eury's transition to Hendrick Motorsports and Mears' switch to the No. 5 Cup Series program. The personnel moves will give Hendrick Motorsports additional depth with the Earnhardt and Mears teams. Grubb, who earned a championship as an engineer with the No. 48 Chevrolets and has won three times in 29 races as a crew chief, will work hand-in-hand with veteran team manager Brian Whitesell. "We've asked Darian to shoulder more responsibility and take another step," Hendrick said. "With all the challenges and difficult situations we've thrown his way, he has always proven to be successful. Darian is a star in our organization and his contributions will be vital to our future success. "This is an extremely talented group we're putting behind Casey and Dale Jr. With the combination of Alan [Gustafson], Tony, Darian and Brian in key leadership positions, we feel strongly that both teams will have the tools to be successful in 2008 and beyond." Hendrick Motorsports is evaluating alternative numbers for the Earnhardt team, which currently uses the No. 25 on its Chevrolet racecars. A timetable for that announcement has not been set. |

I know it's gonna be an uphill battle...especially with Jr. starting 21st...but he's been racing strong lately (maybe a little too late)...but...he's not giving up...he still has the will...and desire to win...he just needs ONE LUCKY BREAK...and a whole lotta prayers!!

Going to be a lot more than luck for Jr to get in the Chase. He will need to come in 5th or better and the leaders will need to have DNF's.
And tomorrow we can predict what will happen during the Chase? Lakeman, any thoughts? Also, who is coming to Charlotte for the October race? |

Yea..I will be real surprised if Jr. gets in. That 100 points penalty early this year and the bad engines killed it for him. He actually has been driving real well with the mediocre equipment that he has to put up with.
I personally wish Tony Eury Jr. would have stayed with DEI for next season. Jr. needs to start entirely new with the someone who has been in the Hendricks and knows the Hendricks way of racing. Handing Tony Jr. a bunch of strange cars will not be too pretty at first because he is entrenched in the DEI ways of doing things. Jr. will be ok and comfortable with Tony but Tony needs to get with the program FAST! Tony has made lots of mistakes during the races and I hope that Hendricks can teach him a little better. I think Tony Stewart is the strondest right now and he will win the Chase. I am not sure about going to Charlotte. No plans yet. |

Well..there it is again!! DEI engines can't hold up for a hard racer like Junior. That is really sad cause Jr. was racing his guts out when that stinkin' engine blew it's cookies.
This is just more support for the move that Jr. is making and I think that more and more people will realize that Jr. needed to get out of there FAST if he wanted to win consistently!! Jr. usually keeps these things out of the press but this time he openly blamed his engine builders. I thought the poor guy was gonna cry. It's pretty frustrating when you race your hardest and still go in reverse. |
