When they ask how much I make... its a done deal...I am out of there. to many people who claim to be looking for a relationship base it on material things/ finances. I can support myself and even 1 other person if need be. to me its an issue I have about dating sites. I've supported myself and two others for about 20 years... I am just really surprised that anybody would even ask this! I apparently am seriously out of touch... On the other hand, asking what someone does for a living seems natural (we tend to spend a lot of time at work) and that too has been shot down in a couple of forum threads as being gold-digger-ish. I guess I'll never figure out the rules!

I think after getting to know someone for a little bit and they haven't told you what they do for a living it would be ok to ask.I think outright asking how much a person makes is not my bizness

Well we weren't talking about generalization. It was about what I would do. Let's be honest. I had money, left it. I didn't take the house, the cars or the business. I just took my son and I get no child support. I left everything else behind. Material things are not important to me.
I wish I could help what the world does. But I really am only concerned with how I live my life and the role I play in society.

I stopped looking for someone when I lost my job in october, I wouldn't feel right about it. Just don't avoid meeting someone as an opposite extreme. Ya just never know what life has in store... And I'm sure that the job situation will turn around.

I stopped looking for someone when I lost my job in october, I wouldn't feel right about it. Pats you're going to find a job and any woman who doesn't appreciate you for who you are and not what you make aren't worth it anyways these are difficult times most people are understanding

Oh none taken at all. I was only proving a point. There are some that really don't care about material things. It is sad to see the ones that do.
