In Australia , a case may be discussed with peers, as long as the Privacy laws are respected, and non identifying information is shared...
I suspect you also have similar laws, and if that is the case, nothing has been breached by these posts. (except maybe the laws of humour!) |

No, you won't. You're just *saying* you will! But then, after I don't kill you, you'll show up again. And you'll do something else to make everyone in my life think you are wonderful and I'm a schmuck. But I'm not a schmuck, Bob, and I'm not going to let you breeze into town and take my family away from me, just because you're crazy enough to be *fun*.
Dr. Catherine Tomsky: If you want to be rid of him, just tell him you won't treat him anymore. Dr. Leo Marvin: Catherine, that's easy for you to say. The man is, is like, like human Krazy Glue! Dr. Catherine Tomsky: You should never have let him sleep in your pajamas, Leo. Dr. Leo Marvin: I can't believe that I'm hearing this! Dr. Catherine Tomsky: Relax, Leo. Dr. Leo Marvin: I'm relaxed! Dr. Catherine Tomsky: Take a vacation. Dr. Leo Marvin: I'M ON VACATION! |

HIPPA is to protect patients but as long as names, locations and such are not mentioned I don't think any laws are being broken. |

I work in this field with adolescents and had a very bizzare event happen and wanted to see if anyone elce has had unexplained things happen to them as well. Actually this subject as you well know breaks code of ethics in about 27 states I know of even hinting at something that happens with a client and a minor one a that is in very poor taste. Not bashing just giving a friendly reminder of the Code of Ethic Laws... I was reading the code of ethics and couldn't find it... Which one would she be violating?? I' curious b/c I know that psychologists do talk amongst one another sharing information and gathering insite from one another... |

Thank you Rains but please re-read as I said I had a event happen to me and I did not disclose any information about the clients I work with other then the field I work in.

I' curious b/c I know that psychologists do talk amongst one another sharing information and gathering insite from one another... Okay I will try to explain it. Let's say she has a client named Sally Joe.. Well Sally's neighbor recognizes her picture and knows she works with Sallys child.. In alot of states the very least that can happen is her being pulled up in front of the Ethic's board. Explaining she wasn't mentioning Sally's child but wanting imput. I am willing to bet the board would be asking her a few questions likes this. 1. If it was a disturbing situation why didnt' you go to your supervisor's. 2. An adult dating site with public forum is not the place to discuss a client in any way whether they can be identified or not all they have to feel is that they can be before a while can of worms are opened up.That I am sure no one wants to have happen to anyone. 3. You are absolutely right there are psyche forums that are closed and must be Licensed and a member to post and then very very generics are posted and it is locked. NO one but the mental health professionals see it. I didn't post this to bash or rain on anyone's parade. I did it because at times all of us has things happen to us that are traumatic and we want imput. So we sometimes forget. I posted a reminder since I would never want someone to get into trouble being human. okay I am done folks carry on with the humor. sorry to step on any toes and sorry if I offended anyone |

No boundaries have been crossed. Stories and experiences can be shared as long as no identifying information is given.

Mind you I don't have either memorized but I do know them generally.. Also, there was no picture, there was no name.. There was not even an indication that she was going to say a name or show a picture. She simply wanted to talk to another professional.. The ethics board would be a 1 in a million chance and they'd have nothing on her and I doubt the "what if's" of those questions would be absolutes.. I'm not trying to offend just commenting on what I know and what I've seen here.. |

Good to see so many others in the field, fully aware of the code of ethics relevant to their states and countries...
