Everyone knows youtube, but what other sites are good for finding music online?
I just came across playlist.com for the first time, at first glance it looks really good and pretty comprehensive. |

Hello.
Well I like this place to try new music. ( music.download.com ) There's a lot of artists who give you free full downloads on their songs and I've enjoyed discovering not only different artists but also different genres on this site too. Also Amazon.com I hear is better than iTunes to buy music from because unlike itunes they don't limit how many times you can upload it to different computers, etc. which in my humble opinion is they way all music should be sold...no limits to when and where and how many times we can play it. Well that's my 2 cents, hope it helps you some. Sunset7. |

The best place to get free music here is the local library.

I don't download music anymore I just use Pandora. There is a desktop gadget that I downloaded through my Windows Side Bar so I don't even gotta open my browser it's right on the desktop.

It's not 'free music' but my favorite site is cdbaby.com because I love discovering new sounds/artists/etc. I also really like supporting independent talent that doesn't have a label or any real money behind them.
You can search by region, city, genre (with a ton of sub-genres) or with a 'sounds like' criteria. You can preview 2 minute clips free. If you happen to order the disc (I like that original for back up - guess I'm a dinosaur) they send the most hilarious emails as part of some really stellar customer service. You guys should check this site out! |

I would suggest pandora as well. You create a playlist based on a band that you like, and you can make as many as you want, and it will introduce you to some good new stuff. =]
