For instance, KISS. They've released close to 30 albums, and have had 45 singles released. They've had 37 official videos....so WHY are we subjected to only "Rock And Roll All Nite" and "Beth" constantly? /rant (for now) |

Lola and You Really Got Me. The Kinks have one of the great catalogs ever and virtually no one knows because those two (and occasionally All Day and All Of The Night) songs are played constantly.

In the Air Tonight by Phil Collins.. it's played quite a bit.. but can you really ever get tired of listening to that one?

I'm gonna go out on a limb here, so please bear with me.
Does anybody realize that The Partridge Family had SIX OTHER Top 40 hits aside from "I Think I Love You", two of which were Top 10? Just sayin'. |

I know. The Monkees (okay mainly a studio band) did actually record other songs besides I'm A Believer and Daydream Believer.
Whether or not we like a particular band is not at issue. The point I'm making is there are some songs we might love that we would be fine never to hear again. They are played out!!!! |

I understand, and I wasn't really off-topic. I'm just saying, if you're ever listening to the oldies station, and the jock says that The Partridge Family is coming up after the break, you already KNOW what song it's gonna be.

Anything by Metallica. WAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY overplayed out. If you are a Yankees fan as I am, you get the added bonus of hearing Enter Sandman every time Mo comes in to close. |

I really like Eric Clapton, but I've heard "Cocaine" played way too much.
"Money" by Pink Floyd is another one that now causes me to change the station. |

The Wall is another one by Pink Floyd that can be retired...

Did I mention Stairway to Heaven yet?

Haven't read all these yet, may have been said!? Worth saying again:
IF I have to sit around ONE more campfire, or otherwise, guitar circle and hear Stairway to Heaven, House of the Rising Sun or Ms. American Pie!? I'm NOT going to be responsible for any collateral damage due to my impaling anyone in reach! Then, it's the ole hari kari for yours truly. War is war ... I'd prefer to have my fingernails pulled off! Just bust my eardrums out already! That's much better, thank you. |

In central Kentucky we have 3 classic rock stations. Thats all the rock we have. Very little new rock ever gets played and if it does its at 3am. I know i'm going to burn at the stake for saying I'm tired of these bands, but when you have 3 different stations playing them you would say the same. So heres my list;
Anything by Led Zepplin Anything by KISS Anything by Aerosmith Anything by AC/DC Anything "metal" from the 80s (hairbands) Anything by Metallica Anything by Ozzy (or Black Sabbath) Anything by Lynard Skynard Anything by Bob Segar |

That's what this thread is about. The same flipping playlists for three plus decades... |
