My doctor says nicotine is even more addictive than heroin. Thats why it's so hard to quit I quit once on Welbutrin. It made me really spacey and stupid but it worked to quit. I took it a couple weeks before quitting to build up a system level of the drug. Then quit and kept taking the Welbutrin for another month or so. It worked well. I never felt a twinge of withdrawal. But driving was an adventure on the welbutrin |

Though i would say try not to rely on the meds totally, the main thing is will power and the desire to quit. |

Well my plan was to quit after my last carton.......I guess this time I really better mean it. When I bought it my particular cigs had already gone up from 30 dollars a carton to 36 (I switched to Tourney brand from speedway stores, good taste). The lady at the store told me they would be going up 6 more dollars in March and I'm assuming even more in April then. If I buy the ones I really like I pay 5.92 a pack. It's definitely time to make the break.......it's been a long time coming.

My Dad quit on Welbutrin. He said that it helped with the psychological part. He didn't care that he wasn't smoking. He also didn't gain weight. He said on that and the patch for months. He didn't have problems with being spacey. My doctor told me Friday that he wanted me to try Chantrix. I didn't know smokers were bad candidates for kidney transplants. It makes sense though. |

I really don't want to quit but my body is telling me differently and I'm a single mom. My child needs me. |

See, this is where the logic fails on the future tax policy of this administration. Everything they do assumes ceteris paribus economically and it just isn't so.
Raise the taxes on the wealthy. You either lose jobs so their bottom line stays black or they lose money and your tax base starts to dwindle. Then you lose the income tax from them in addition to putting a larger strain on social programs. Tax the smokers. They just smoke less because they can't afford it or just decide to stop and you lose the funds altogether. Taxation needs to promote growth and longevity, not a quick fix for the current situation. The proposed taxation by this administration is more a "hit them hard now before they get out" mentality that will not help us at all in the long run. The problem I have is their taxation is completely targeted at minorities - smoking is viewed as bad, being rich makes you appear greedy and heartless to the common person. When you do that, you get rid of the risk of a major protest like if you taxed the middle class. |

It truely is taxation without representation. The smoker has no means of redress, no recourse. No way to avoid it other than to quit or have them shipped in from out of country. They'll have that shut off soon enough anyways.
targeted, punitive taxation. bohica |

there's a little saying..if you don't love it leave it. Exactly...that is the precise reason I will now send my American money over seas. I would prefer to do business with the Virginia tobacco farmers but, since our govt ain't gonna show no love...I will leave off doing business with them and look to the ones who do want my business. Bravo! I don't smoke but I say to people who do... they should be mad. Grow your own. Don't be too loud about it though because if you are, they will make a law against growing your own, just like pot. If I were a smoker, I would grow my own, roll my own, buy it on the black market... anything to keep the government from robing me with their taxes. How to grow your own tobacco. http://www.ryomagazine.com/july/review.htm |

Just found out that the "Sin" tax on Tobbacco products is jumping from 146% to well over 200%. I personally roll my own to avoid that kind of taxation on pre-rolled tobacco. Now, beggining April 1, the tax on a pound of bagged tobacco will be $25. That means, my $12 bag of tobacco will now cost $40!!!! I realize that non smokers will say.."It is for your own good" Just consider this....suppose they levied this same tax rate for other unhealthy things...like fast food, sodas, candy or pasteries. Suppose your $6 dollar lunch from McDonalds was gonna cost you $18. To me, it seems completely unjustifiable to level these criminal tax rates at a minority section of the populace. I am p*ssed about it and will now order all my stuff from overseas...the shipping and handling is far less than the stupidly unfair taxes that my own gov't is casually handing down. i can make my own (filters and all) for under a $1 a pack....if it keeps getting bad...I will quit like it or not....then I'll come in here and you will be able to tell I quit lol |

You can make more money in the black market cigarette business than you can smuggling dope. Seriously. |

I feel sorry for the non-smokers in here when we all quit lol Lmao, just think instead of b.i.t.c.h.i.n.g about the same old same old, we will be b.i.t.c.h.i.n.g about anything and everything.. grin! However there is only one way it seems to tell the politicians what we think of some of their actions, though this one will be telling them through withdrawal.. Ack! I wouldn't worry about me much in here, I will be desperately trying to get away from myself when I quit. Luckily only for about a week. Of course have no fear, they will find something else to make sure we no longer have the money we saved from not smoking. They might go after what you substitute for smoking. |

very true boo (hehehe I rhymed)
they will tax us until we have no choice but to quit (for health that migh be a good thing) but smoking is still legal, but if they can't make it illegal....tax the h*ll out of it, I guess. I suspect the women might be worse going through withdrawls lol |
