my daughter's phone... My 11 year old recently got a cell phone and I decided to check and see who's she's talking to. I'm a "mean mom" that way laugh
So I found these joke texts... very inappropriate jokes for an 11 year old kid on her phone. So I text him to find out who it is...
This grown man calls her phone, so I question him on how he knows my daughter. He told me it was his friends old # and he swears he didn't know it wasn't his anymore. When I informed him he's texting an 11 year old lil kid he seemed scared sh!tless laugh I think he might need a new pair of jeans on after the phone call I just had with him laugh

I do believe him... for now. He sure seemed scared when I told and he sounded like he expected me to know him when he gave his name.

I think 11 is way too young for a cell phone.
Also, if your daughter was answering him, it would take him a while to figure out that it was not who he thought it was by the things she would say to him. The fact that she is 11 tells me that you have made a terrible mistake. 11 year old children do not need cell phones in my opinion. I don't need a cell phone, and neither does anyone else who is not on the road doing business. The majority of the population are all brainwashed by this pop culture society, and the mega companies making and selling products. People today are extremely spoiled, and they don't appreciate the simple things in life anymore. Take the damm cell phone away from her and let her grow up a normal child, not one of these little digital zombies we have running around today. smokin

Luckily for you she didn't ask for an opinion on that.

I don't completely disagree. however, I disagreed enough to allow her to have one  You don't know our circumstances... and under our circumstances it worked out.

I'm glad I'm not the only one checking up on my 11 year old's phone. She knows that for now, her texting is NOT private. If she abuses the privileges of the phone, she gets it taken away. So glad you found out the guy was sending stuff AND you got his name! Doubt that will be happening again....lol.

And to the man who thinks 11 years old is too young......it is young, but some of us have circumstances that work better if we have instant communication with our kids. Ask around, you'll find that 50% or probably more of the kids in the 10-11 year old range have them now. You can outfit them with tracking systems and block any features you don't want them using. We don't even have home phones around here much anymore.

Why lucky for me ? I always say exactly what I think. I don't care what people think about my opinions. I voice my opinion, just like everyone else, and let them decide for themselves. If we all agree'd all the time on everything, life would be boring. I may be off base here, when I was 11, it was 1964. Wow ! maybe im one of those old fashioned fuddy duddies. lol I can live with that... smokin
Nope, if I had an 11 year old son or daughter, they might have a mini bike, but not a damm cell phone... smokin

I agree Jill. My kids have had cell phones for a long time (now 26 and 21). I take great comfort in being able to stay in contact with my child.

If your children were home, you wouldn't need tracking systems. People today allow thir kids to run around like cats, I just don't get it.

Oh, you must be refering to the texting thing, I agree, ya never know.
In the last 2 years or so, I have had 3 or 4 kids run up to me with problems. Either a bully chasing them or their lost or something, and thats the way it should be. Children do not need cell phones.

laugh You don't know a thing about me do you? My kids don't "run around like cats" at all. I have a disabled child who can't even walk, much less run. Her sister goes places with me, family or her friends parents. But since you decided to assume, I'll tell you their father is in the middle of a HUGE midlife crisis, and if he decides to show up and take them out, I appreciate the power of knowing she can call me should I need to go get them. It's called being proactive as a parent. And I don't really care whether or not you agree with that stance, because I'm confident I'm doing the best job I can as a mother.
