I'm glad I'm not the only one checking up on my 11 year old's phone. She knows that for now, her texting is NOT private. If she abuses the privileges of the phone, she gets it taken away. So glad you found out the guy was sending stuff AND you got his name! Doubt that will be happening again....lol.

And to the man who thinks 11 years old is too young......it is young, but some of us have circumstances that work better if we have instant communication with our kids. Ask around, you'll find that 50% or probably more of the kids in the 10-11 year old range have them now. You can outfit them with tracking systems and block any features you don't want them using. We don't even have home phones around here much anymore.

If your children were home, you wouldn't need tracking systems. People today allow thir kids to run around like cats, I just don't get it.

I disagree with your comments. Having children in activities is good for them. In my youth, my mother didn't work and had time to sit around and wait for practices to be over. Working parents don't have as much latitude in that department.

laugh You don't know a thing about me do you? My kids don't "run around like cats" at all. I have a disabled child who can't even walk, much less run. Her sister goes places with me, family or her friends parents. But since you decided to assume, I'll tell you their father is in the middle of a HUGE midlife crisis, and if he decides to show up and take them out, I appreciate the power of knowing she can call me should I need to go get them. It's called being proactive as a parent. And I don't really care whether or not you agree with that stance, because I'm confident I'm doing the best job I can as a mother.

And thats all that matters... very good then...
I don't know where you live, and I have no idea what your life style is like. When I grew up, mom was home and dad worked. Thats the way it should be, right ? Maybe in a 2 parent working situation, cell phones could be useful, but only executives had cell phones when I was a kid, and I think we had a much healthier lifestyle. Just like any other old person, im stuck in my ways. Im also very out spoken and honest. My opinion is only that, my opinion, and it stems from my experiencies and observations. I think that most of the kids today are screwed up royally.

Wow well that's a little uncalled for. You act like I just leave my child alone to do whatever and I use the cell phone to track her. That's not the case. Not that I have to defend myself to you. I do not let my child run around as she pleases.
